Right nothing new really apart from a small air leak from one of the pipe connectors on the inlet which has been replaced but absolutely nothing different - Adam came round and i'll let him post what he thought

To me the car appears to be massivly over fuelling to the extent that there is no ignition in pots 2 and 3. Until the Blue sensor is replaced we cant really go any further with it. It is a little baffling as under the engine bay is as basically as new. The car was absolutely perfect prior to the injectors and chip being changed

In my oppinion though there is a problem with the ECU/Chip.

Chris, the sooner you sell it and get another S1 the better

It's all resting on this Blue sensor mate - if it isn't that then it's back to the drawing board and i'll have to see what me and MSD can come up with.

be carefull because even after youve changed the ect sensor it may still do it..as i said the other night on your other thred it could be the plug to the sensor..it only takes it to be unplugged(wich you have done)and then when plugged back in the pins pushed itself out or bent itself...i did say check that a few days back...

cheers danny

i know youve checked a lot of stuff, but i dont recall you saying if you had checked the earth wires.Dont they usually have earth wires on the inlet manifold.I know youve replaced the loom,so i dont know if the earths are still in the same place.could it be they're not making contact properly after the powder coating etc.Could be something as silly as this, also the connection onto the ecu,is it in fully cuz mine used to come loose occaisionally.
stick with it mate its a beautiful car.
cheers glyn

Glyn I've checked all that mate, that was the first thing i was concerned with the powdercoat blocking a decent earth connection, i filed the point back to bare metal on the manifold.

Question: does a SECS monitor pick up on faulty sensors??

Yes, only the sensors it monitors, so if your coolant sensor is fucked it should give you readings like -40 °C hence overfueling.

Mine had bad wiring on the coolant sensor and whilst driving the sensor got bad readings and the car stalled instantly due to overfueling and SECS monitor showed -40°C
