Could someone please point me in the right direction, I have a '99 1.6 16v escort zetec and looking to covert to a turbo as i have been informed this is possible after upgrading waterpump etc etc can some one confirm this is definately possible, rough costings and anywhere london based could do such a mod

swap to a 2.0 and THEN convert to turbo, the 1.6 is crap, sorry mate..

but if you want to do it the cheap way, megasquirt management, 300 quid
dsescent turbo and manifold, 100 - 150 quid

cossie injectors and a frst or xr2i injector rail, 30 quid

decompression plate and head gaskets, 60-100 quid depending where you look

new bottom shells, uprated conrod bolts, water pump, oil feeds etc, all the little parts, about 100 quid

oil cooler, 100 - 150 quid

engine, 100 quid from a scrappy

you can convert for 800 quid if you get a couple bargains, and do the work yourself, all i need now is managemnt and ive only spent about 400 quid, if youre in the know

well megasquirt is not a stable management it can be good one day and BANG fook your engine the mext and not many engine tuners will touch it cause that will happen

Yeah I've seen plenty of people running Megasquirt with no problems!

As said, it can be done, but the 1.6 is awful head on it doesn't flow well at all. At least use a 1.8, cheaper than the 2.0. and with the decomp plate route, done right can still see about 200bhp, which is alright in a FWD car!

I have got mk6 escort. when got it it was 1.6 si. then i put 1.6 cvh turbo lump in it wid cossie l8 mangement. mtx75 gear box. now engine comeing out and in middle of building 2.0l zetec turbo steel rod low com pistions. amining for 300 bhp ish.
