She's leaving for france in 2 and a bit hours :D
I have had a miss fire for a while now and have not had a chance to look at the car properly due to moving last year and decorating. Missed out a lot on the scene last year and haven't touched the car at all.
Sooooooooooooooooo I decided to tax the car for the the winter for the 1st time since I had it in order to sort out a few jobs and to justify doing more than 200 miles in one year
I got some new leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm and decided to take the car up the Andy by pass all was going well and I was pushing an R6 along at about ton something and then the car started running on 3 No smoke or anything so I thought maybe one of the leads was not fitted properly.......................cue 20 minutes of swapping bits over and finally doing a compression test to reveal that No 3 had nothing
I am hoping that the HG was on its way out (hence the missing) and finally gave way when I was giving it large. I haven't lost any oil or water etc but it was only a quick blast and I limped it home for less than a mile.
I made a start yesterday evening, the cars stuck in my garage as opposed to my folks one (which is bigger and all my tools are there )
I thought Id start a thread to help motivate me as I haven't been arsed with the Cossie for the best part of a year and TBH I have forgotten I even own one and still cant be arsed with it
A few pics..........
Last time the engine will be in one piece for a while
Lack of space
about as far as I got yesterday

shit dunno if i'd seen your underbonnet stuff before. i have been thinking of ding VERY similar!
ie
black cam cover, tanks, hoses, breather etc.
i want it now! it looks very smart and will suit my stealth theme
As for engine, dont wanna piss on your fire but i didnt lose any fluids either when i melted piston i was hoping things would be ok but they werent fingers crossed.

rsnissan this car was an inspiration for me ... it was probably the first 'restoration' thread that I read and it encouraged me to get in there and start working on mine (and post it on the net ).
I hope you find the love again and resurrect her to her former glory
Good luck ... I'll follow this one with interest

Cheers for the support guys, so far I have done......nothing been finishing up some jobs on the house and not had time to get in the garage
On the plus side I have been doing a fair bit of thinking I have some plans for the engine now but am going to Lemans and AM taking the sierra there So need it ready for end of may really, I can't risk the car being off the road for too long as there were some other small jobs I wanted to do before then anyway.
With that in mind my plan is this....................
I have decided to go for a low comp bottom end and change the exhaust housing from a 48 to a 63 then live map on a set of seimens. I love the way the car drives with the .48 so I am not sure how I will like the .63 but if i dont I can always swap back.
Ultimately if I get on alright with the bigger exhaust housing I'll go for a T4 and headwork when i get back.
There is a slim chance I may just go for a T4 on the standard head in time for Lemans and get the car mapped around that but we'll see.......................
I am doing this on the 205 block in the intrests of science, if the worst comes to the worst i'll swap the parts over to a 200 at a later date

Well got finished up taking the head off today looking at things now god knows why
anyway heres some pics;
lost the air filter and a few other bits
coolers coming off
inlet plenum cover etc off.......
........and the heads off
Haven't looked too closely yet but gasket looks mint and the pistons look fine apart from the usual piston to valve contact most YB's have.
so that doesn't account for my lack of compression which basically leaves the head i'll have a look at that later in the week.
..........meanwhile the "big power" cogs have been going round my in my head

The valve fairy has been, bastard didn't leave a pound under my pillow though!
God knows where the bit of valve went as turbo is mint as are the bores and the head looks fine too.
Best guess is that it happened at full boost and the bit flew out of the wastegate down the exhaust. I could be talking bollocks or I could be the jammiest git alive
some pics..........
next step is to measure all the bottom end and go from there.......

Mental isnt it! still going to do a full rebuild though
not had a chance to do anything as I was fitting an exhaust for a mate last night.
Anyone know if there is any chance that the bit of valve has gone upwards? i'll take it apart to check but was just wondering really?
answers on a postcard
