Default Project re-shell my sapphire.

Hi again everyone how are we all? hope we are all good

Well its time to update you all on where i've been for the last year, Arguing with Hyperformance insurance over my sapphire that i built over last christmas! they offered me £100 for a sapphire cosworth replica with a 2.9 24valve rear wheel drive setup.
In the end i've had my car back for parts and £1000 so here is the new base for my running gear out of the old one.

I'm thinking of leaving it this colour with the following changes bodywise:-
4x4 cosworth bonnet,
4x4 cosworth front bumper,
Cosworth sideskirts
It has got the cosworth grille and bootspoiler on already so no worries there.
The rest of the parts will be coming from this car.

Let me know what you think everyone.
Cheers Shaun.

The brakes failed on the way to the MOT of all places just after i'd had a new rear arch fitted and got the car prepared for a full hit in pearlescent magenta (which incidentaly ive still got 5 litres of the paint if anyone's interested).
Not got any accident damage pics as yet but it only hit a curb (car lowered 75mm and a 6" curb dont mix lol) so its mostly chassis damage.
I think i'm gona run the suspension with a 30mm drop this time just in case lol.
Do you recon it'l be nice in that colour then?

I managed to bag myself a mint cosworth front bumper with fogs and all the other bits that go with it, a pair of good sidskirts and a good condition 4x4 cloth trim last night for the bargain price of £120

not bad hey?

It isnt technicaly gona be a cosworth so i'm goin for a different look with this one, it looks mint in the colour it is to be honest and as has already been said i would have to get a lot of prep work done to get it colour changed so i've decided just to get my 4x4 bonnet, cosworth sideskirts and bumpers sprayed to match the car but thanks for the sugestion anyway mate.

Hey up mate hows it goin? I was thinkin the wheels are gona look shit hot with the car being the colour that it is and as iv got the brakes coming off an evo too i reckon it would be a good idea
I really like the look of both the spoilers but im unsure which to buy but as i have got a really big soft spot for the look of the RS500 i think that may be the way to go.
I'll see what everyone else thinks and go from there but cheers for the comment any way mate

They will fit a granada 5 stud hub but not Mondeo/Focus 5 stud hubs mate
The PCD of a Granada is 5x112mm
"" "" " " Evo " 5x114.3mm
"" "" Mondeo/Focus " 5x108mm
To get them on a granada you use wobbly wheel nuts which have a floating collar to allow for the 1.15mm offset in the wheel studs and wheel nut holes.
Unfortunately i wont be fitting the wheels anymore cuz some dozy bloke (i.e. ME) forgot to put his bid in on ebay for them

Hi everyone just thought i would add an update or two to keep you all interested.
Here are a few pictures of some of the parts that i have dropped on for my project car all of which are thanks to that great place Ebay.

I also have a choice of interiors to fit now too but not sure which one to fit yet,
I have a light grey cloth trim, dark grey cloth trim and leather but not sure which im gona be using as yet as the leather front seats need re-triming.

Hi people, just a quick update to say that this weekend I am going to get all my sapphire bits together in one place and photograph the lot prior to getting the thing built up as I believe that there are a fair few doubters as to whether I am telling the truth about my accumulated parts and my ability to get the damned thing built up so keep looking and we will go from there.

P.S. I aint some well off mummy's boy who gets everything that I want, I am out of work with injuries after being in a bad car accident and recovering from a severe attack by a random lunatic with a hammer so what gets done to the car gets done by me working very hard to keep a grip on my finances.

Obviously i am going to have to get some caliper brackets made up and get some alloy mounting bells made but thats a small price to pay for the awesome stopping capabilities that these brakes are going to provide.

Hey mate, are they the 6 pot one's? I've been looking into upgrading to these as currently run porsche boxster s 4 pot one's on the front of mine which are average considering the weight of the car. Take it that this was an ebay find? what sort of price did they set you back?

Hi mate, yes they are the 6 pots, you would expect the boxter ones to fade a bit really but these should be good enough for anything really.
I have a mate who works in a high end car dealership and sorted me them out cheap instead of selling them on ebay where they were advertised.

Hey there everyone, i've just been doing some work on the sapphire and decided that I am going to run 17" wheels on the sapphire so the brakes are gona be put to 1 side until I can get some suitable wheels for the car in 7/ 7.5 x 18" 5x112pcd. if anyone can source a set for me that would be a bonus
These wheels are going on my car instead and I am looking out for some brakes to fit too. Probably evo brembos.

I hope you all approve of it.

Great news for me folks as I have just received my (and might I add the only set so far) of Samco sport silicone hoses, so Just for everyone who needs them here is the first set off the production line.

Well not these ones above.

These ones.

Also on the project front I have had some engine mounts made by a well known polly bush manufacturer to try out and hopefully these will be going into production some time soon.
Here is a prototype mount which some of you will of no doubt seen at fordfair.

Hi people just thought I would show you the hoses fitted to my donor engine and car prior to the whole lot getting removed from it cleaned and powder coated and fitting to the new shell.

Not quite fitted to the car as yet but the engine needs powder coating blue and then fitting to the shell below.

Hey everyone, I have just got the new production engine mounts after testing the pre-production mounts on a car for 6 weeks.
Here is a couple of pics of them prior to getting them fitted on the crossmember.

Hey all hows it going?

Just thought I would give you a glimpse of a prototype rear diff mount.

This one is for the granada cosworth and may be put into production anyhow but the main aim was to get them done for the sapphire but having a lot on my mind of late I got the granada and the sapphire mounts confused which means I now need to send the sapphire diff mount down to a certain well know polly bush manufacturer in wales to be redone so as soon as the replacement diff bush for the sapphire is done I will post a pic or 2 on here.

Quick Reply: Project re-shell my sapphire.
