My escort cosworth project/ tidy up.
Hi,
had my escort cosworth about a month now, so it was time to start pulling it apart. its a large turbo on a k plate with 40k on the clock.
this is how it was when i got it last month;
First job was to remove the front bumper so i could fit the standard head lights back in, fit some rs500 fog light grills and take the bumper mesh and brackets off for powder coating.
the bumper is off at the moment as im ordering a c/c front bib and hockey sticks in matt carbon look
I have also removed the chrome sill covers and replaced them with some realy nice carbon fibre jobbies from Radman
next job was to remove the interior, remove all the ice install/cables and fit the nice new centre console and gear gaitor that was provided with the car!, also had to remove a gear stick lock that was fitted to the car and came up through the console!
it has a boot now!! full tool kit is present and the std towing eye still with the ford sticker on it
interior is back in, but need to go to ford and order some plastic sill cover screws and need a black allen headed bolt that holds the rear bench in place!.
bumper hung in place to see what the grills look like! also may see the carbon bumper grill blanks also from Radman!
ive also wax oiled all the metal on the car behind the bumper.
thats it for now, next on the want list is a set of konis on a 30mm drop, and either some rondells or new shape mo's in anthresite also would like an msd stage 3 set up at some point
i can see iam going to spend sh*t loads on this car

well been busy getting some bits and bobs!
i payed ford a visit and got some amber indicators and repeaters, also got a new set of plastic screws that screw the sill covers down as some of myne were rounded!, also ordered a pair of rear bench bolts as one of myne was silver and one was the proper ford one. Also got my koni adjustables through today, will be fitted with some -30mm springs.
Lastly Mike R is sorting me a creative carbon bib and hockey stick set up in matt finish!
Just trying to tell my self not to order some monte rims from Paul R!.

Thanks Paul,
Its in good condition, but i think where it had the big audio set up, some screws had been miss layed etc when the interior was removed to run the 20miles of cables etc , at least it's all now proper ford screws and fixings
can't believe i have not wanted a part so far that is nil stock/nls

Forgot about this thread!
So will do a small update upto where iam
satin strut tops,
the usual coil udgrade,
other parts fitted,
horns cleaned up
engine bay was to grubby, so attacked it with de-greaser,
pulled out the arch liners and gave the inner arches a good scrub/strip, then re stone chipped the middle as per standard (no pics of the finnished article though)
stripped the turret areas for a good clean up--in pro

Then these arrived! so fitted them up. along with the koni adjustables and the 30mm cobra springs,
Then decided to strip the interior again to shampoo the carpet!
also fitted some new rear lights as the old ones had some very small cracks in
made up a patch out of heat resistant mat for the area behind the down pipe, as the standard lagging stuff looked tired!
job i have just completed was ditching the multi plugs after some advice from other members,
no finnished pics yet, but it looks really good and all the wires are in the same plastic type ducting that the standard loom comes in!
thats it at the mo! only other thing ive done is fitted all new scuff panels and rear speaker parcel shelf support plastics from ford!

Deffo Ryan! being honest both sides could do with being re sprayed, but im not that bothered at the moment!, i have just started the car after soldering the loom and re fitting the interior, every thing is fine except i dont think the fuel gauge is working! its sat on the red line! i know it had under quarter of a tank but i dont think it was on the red! Does any one know where the fuel gauge wires run? ie would this be a fault from soldering the engine loom or disturbing something when re-fitting the interior? DOH!

Got some motivation today, so re fitted the arch liners with the new torx bolts (no great pictures though!)
Also a finished shot of the coil area, looks alot neater imo!

Fast forward from 2008
Paint and put back together by Dave Pritchard in 2016 after being off the road since 2008!
He also added a paddle clutch and hydraulic clutch setup which works great
Top job and been faultless since

Was stage 3 msd setup on .55 t34, then went to msd 380 kit with 55lb Siemens and goes well for what it is.
For peace of mind Car went back to Dave for look over and Pete Dougherty gearbox with straight cut 2nd and 3rd gears.
poly diff mount and a few other bits which transformed the iffy rear steer handling

Did castle coombe this year, put some federal 595rsr tyres on and stiffened up the konis and car was spot on all day and passed allbut one of the cars on the track the whole day.
After that changed the 330 4 pot ap’s to cp5555 6 pots. And 355 rotors.
