mk3 5dr RSturbo estate update 27/8
Well hope to finish this project then. AS we could see in my other topic it needed some TLC ow and don't forget the money .
Well did some work today. Parked the car 2 months ago and never drove it again. Mainly cos the bad leaking radiator .As they arnt for sale anymore i have to get a good secondhand one. So have to wait for 1 week. I get one next suterday And a uprated intercooler to .
i allready have a Stage 3 T3 turbo and just waiting for a new radiator and bigger intercooler i have them at home next suterday (i hope).
My little co driver:
This is how it looked standing still for 2 months and before i started ripping parts from the car
The bits that needed to put on. But no time and it was so damn cold.
Removed some parts:
Found some rust. On both sides:
This was cooling the RSt for a few days:
The radiator.
Looking sorry for it self
Next sunday i will instal a new rockercover gasket, waterpump, turbo, intercooler and rad.

Well started to mod the Dash today. Cost me some time but it worked out well. But i know now that i have to replace everything. So going to build a new one. All VDO gauges. VDO tacho etc. Here a test fitting of the T press and oil temp. The last one will be oil press when finished.

Something normal now Got another rocker cover and resprayd it. Also painted the crossover pipe and i polished my oil cap to much time on my hands i think. And its only for a week or 3 until i get my RSi cover and 3i inlet. But the red cover was irritating me .
Polished cap. need to do it again. But the yellow paint was a real pain.
And i connected the VDO gauges.
The left one is now T press.
Also fitted another ECU wich is proved to run 14PSI. So its a start untill i have my MSD chipped ecu.

Been busy the past few days. Going back to standard look. Got new ambers and std backlights. Also found a nice 90spec bumper wich need a good clean.
Also painted some parts matt black. Just love the look of it. And i even polished my cold start injector Looks nice tho. Got a little advice for cleaning parts to. Down the page
Here some pics.
Cleaned and masked ( real word? ) xr3i inlet mani.
Sprayd and polished cs injector and thermo housing.
Love the look of the std backlights and std blinkers
Well then the advice. Don't know if someone tried it yet. Its a little cheap one. The inlet mani was real dirty. Paint and oil everywhere
So i started brushing the damn thing but took to much time.
So i got a can of oven cleaner. Just spray it on wait for 30min and get a cheap sponge and rub it off. Clean it with water and tada everything is nice and clean. Get some good gloves as its very irritating stuff
Hope its helps

Got a bit nuts with the painting and cleaning i think Resprayed the inlet and i allmost forget the plate between the inlet and the TB. Very dirty plate But the oven cleaner was no more there as i used it all yesterday So look for more cleaning stuff in the kitchen. And found cillit bang
Click link http://www.cillitbang.co.uk/sf2_all.shtml#1 The site says i can;t use it on alu. Fock them. Works just fine
Here some pics:
before:
And after a bit of cleaning with Cillit
it works better then the oven cleaner
And all back together.
