The zetec turbo lives on..... in a mk1 cortina!! *Breaking*
Hi guys,
Thought Id start a thread as didnt get round to doing it with the last one!! Im sure some of you will remember seeing piccys of my fiesta zetec turbo which I built last year, if not piccys below!!
Anyways heres the new toy the engines going, the right way round
1966 1500 super mk1 cortina
One with a mates superlite on
Plans are so far,
wheels arrived yesterday compomotive ml's- like a superlite but a little different
Ordering a escort front end kit which is Modified escort cross member-adjustable track control arms-modified anti roll bar-anti dive kit-rose jointed top mounts-steering column coupling and ploybush kit hopefully tomorrow so then with some custom mounts from retro the engine should go in
Coupled with above-Suspension- mk2 capri front legs sent off to gaz to be made into coilovers 2.5"'s so quite chunky. You can also put bigger better brakes on the capri legs!!
Once a cosy box goes on there il see how much of a bigger tunnel I need, if I need one as I understand because its an auto it has a bigger tunnel as standard but how much bigger I dont know
Rear diff im not sure on yet, no dought it will be quaife or a similar atb or plated?? Custom prop.
Was on the phone to I/H last night talking about more and sorting manifolds out, oh its going to be expensive
Im going to concentrate on getting the engine in first then depending on funds engine work will be caried out later!!
I attacked it last night, got most of the interior out and half the engine bay lol, found a couple of scabby bits on the floor but for the age of the car im very pleased!!
Going to be working on her over the weekend so il post up piccys as she progresses!!
Thanks for looking
liam

Very nice Liam.
will be quite interesting seeing how the ol' Zetec engine goes when all fitted and running properly - was entertaining enough just on the journey to Le Mans!
will keep an eye on your project mate

Kelv, cheers mate hopefully going to have it done by le mans this year ... for another entertaining trip ha ha!!
Theres lots to do and lots of money to spend as I want a little more power too but it will be worth it!!
Hows your motor coming on?
Cheers for the comments guys!!
Tim, alright geezer! Yes hopefully there will be a cage in there, would you want to be doing 150+ in a cortina without one

Yery cool project!
If you want to mate the zetec to a T5 you will need a lightweight billet steel flywheel from www.ttvracing.com.
Tell them you spoke to Doug about it and they will know exactly what part you are after.

Cheers guys
Garage 19, Ive been thinking about the flywheel... been told that I might be able to do a pinto flywheel conversion as I would be able to use a cossy clutch?? If I can do something to use a cossy item that would be great .. only I have one sitting here
m4dyeti- Yeah the colour is quite cool, the white roof sets it off quite well
She'l be a sleeper apart from the wheels and prob a chunky diff under the back
