Default BIG S2 RS Turbo restoration project with always new works!

Ok i was almost finished and then i made a misstake by clicking the site away

So here's my storie again!

I bought the car when i was 17. I bought the car with a broken gearbox. Just before i got my licience the complete car was ready!

So the other gearbox went in and waxed the car before going for a cruise

After i went to the european ford event with the car i decieded to make some adjustments to the car. And propobly some of you guys know how that goes. You see everything that's not right and everything has to change wenn you start working on it. That is how it went over here.

started stripping down the car

Then the moment was there that i decieded to finish the job nicely and do everything that wasn't right in my opinon. So everything had to go on the car!

Then there was to much rust!

So bought lots of replacement parts, because a good friend of ours that is always working on oldtimers that are worth a fortune, is going to do the welding. So i'm really glad that he's going to do my car!

I bought some 90 spec bumpers, spoiler because someone who's stupid replaced it for the normal (90 spec on papers)

In all that time there was also time for the engine. I took the engine out because is was smoking a bit. And my nightmare came true. Turbo was dead! So bought a new en stronger turbo last week. Then there was a flowed and tuned head on internet so went a in the car to pick it up. The guy claimed a 180 bhp with normal turbo pressure.

Then i brought all the engine stuff to a engine specialist and said i wanted to get everything good. So everything is like new expect the pistons, because they were replace before i bought the car.
The guy measured everything and did all the work, so i got a real proper engine now! Spend some but you get some!

Respray for looks

almost a new head

Flowed

i got quite a lot of stuff also for the engine but i list them on the end.

Because i'm working alot on the car and spending losts of money for a student!! i wanted to get a proper look so all the parts get a respray! it's a hell of a job but i hope the result will be stunning!

So the list of stuff that i bought for the car!

- the diesel mounts for enigine and gearbox
- Cosworth fuelpomp
- adjustable koni's front & rear
- lowering set eibach
- oilcooler
- 3' inch exhaust system RVS front to back
- Rebuild turbo with lots of adjustments like bearings housing
- polyrubbers front and rear
- new header tank
- breading set
- -31 actuator
- cosworth brakes front
- changed camshaft
- flowed head
- APR conrod bolts
- and more!

I'm going to place some updates over here till the whole car is finished

Tnx for the reactions! it's keeping me motivated!

so again a little update

We started the reassembly of the engine. After a little mistake yesterday we stopped working and continued today ofcourse after normal work, so not lots of work done.

Started with all the new bearings

and recondicient parts

all pistons in

The engine head ready for placing

than we made the mistake by putting to much torque on the bolts from the cam followers and damaged them, so went today to ford to get 8 new ones just to make sure everythings fine!

So that's how we left the engine

And continued today with waterpump, cleaning some parts, thermohousing ect

Later this week i'm going to work agian, but won't be much because my mother is becomming 50 this weekend

I also made a call to the welder and he already finished the rightbackside of the car. I'm still missing some stuff for him and i'm trying to find it here in the netherlands, but it's difficult!

i'm not sadicified with some parts like the rockcover, but i can change that later on in the project.

Oke we did some new work, but it's little. The inletside is mounted from the engine, but that's all because i'm sick at home for 2 days! it's killing me, because weekend is comming and this means no work on the car

Yesterday the welder called that he was working on the car, so we went to take a look. I'm glad he's doing the welding and making the car ready for the respray. He said the better i work now the less work is left to make the car ready! so it looked very nice

Here some pics:

New innerarc almost finished

Rusty fuel hole went out and new one went in

New arc on the outside

Here is the part that i'm missing for the welder on the other side! it's between the chassisrail and the innersill (i thought that's how you call it) it's the black bit on the right of the chassisrail!

last one for this update

No mate,

Still haven't found them. I'm now trying the last opertunity. The guys from ford in the netherlands tell me that is maby is welded on the chassisrail when i order them, but they aren't sure and can't send it back when it isn't.

So maby the welder has to make one.. or i have to get one from a other rst

Ok again time for a little update...
Got enought time now i'm sick at home Wish i could just go to my work because this is sh*t!

So to the car then! Finally i got the bit that i needed from the chassisrail! I got it from a guy that has a car like 1 mile away from my home, but because of his work i needed to wait 2 weeks before he had time
But now the part is by the welder

The welder is close to finishing the car. He needs to make from 2 bonnet's 1 good one without rust. One had a little rust on the front and the other had rust on the back. So that needs to be fixed. then the chassisrail and the welding from the chassis in the engine bay!
Then he will start preparing the car for the painter. Probably were going to do the engine bay and the bottom of the car at home and then bring it to the painter.

Half Januari the car should come back painted

i'm still looking for a good intercooler and a adjustable cam pully, so if you got one PM me

Now the picture's

The turbo is now nice and ready to be fitted!

Also went to Ford for some parts! They are soo expensive

Give the radiator a nice black color

Then give the fuelpump a good clean
half way:

After:

Then made the petroltank like new

Another pic of my love

Fixed the rear brakes

also took the brake cilinders total a part for inspection. They were good

I'm was now working on the steeringcolom to get it cleaned and the rear swingarms are almost finished! I hope i'm feeling better soon, because i want to finish all the parts before the car comes back.

I also trying to find info for buying some stuff like brakediscs, gauges ect.

I hope that in the next update i can give pics from the car ready for the painter! then the real fun starts. All the parts are ready to be fitted so i hope it all goes very fast. can't wait to here her run again!

Haha tnx mate! i'll see in a while if i can get enough power out of your old head

So again a new update today!

I really needed to bring some stuff to the welder so went quick to him to go back in bed after worths.

Here some pics of his work!

New sill welded in!

then one of the bits why i love the way my welder works
On this photo is a whole part welded in because it was rotten. It's like new! he made the wholes and all just how the were!
Just check out yourself

New wheel arc on the rear

Also the inside is new

The a bit that earlier in the topic was welded by my dad, but i didn't like it so also that is new now
top view

bottom view

and here the spot where the sill goes into the wheel arc

He is welding everything every nice, because he'll also make the car ready for the respray. So he is working very good now so he doesn't has to do much work to get is ready for the respray also he doesn't want to use much filler!

I can't wait to get the car back!

So time for a new update!

We finished welding on the car! So orderd some new stuff and i'm looking for a intercooler now..

We're hoping to finish the body on the end of January and i'm trying to get all the parts and everything around that time. So when te car is painted that we only have to build it up

Here are some pic's from the project. We just started to work on the body to get it ready for a respray.

A special coating that will look like the original stuff in the wheel arces =D

Also got a new handbrake cable from Ford

And the painted rear swingarms
