Default My Escort Cosworth, now on the road again ...

As some of you may know i have decided to " update " some of the components on my Escort Cosworth.

this will be including , a new standalone engine management system that i will be mapping myself, changes to the intake and exhaust manifolds, and engine internals. Some of the items i will be using will be a UK first for the old Cossie engine to try and bring the old legend up to date....

there will also be changes to the transmission, brakes and suspension...

well here's some pics so far..

she is waiting for some TLC....

There will be updates as there done and as the parts are decided upon..

my main plan is for more refinement and reliability / driveability at the same ( or just over ) power / torque ...

thanks , the wheels are going no where

all the changes are going to be mechanical so it should look the same.

EXACTLY, that's where i am going with this project..

don't get me wrong i still want some respectable power ( 450 - 500 )

BUT it will have to do it all day every day..

You should start by changing the brakes . They're not fit for 400bhp, let alone higher . Also, the car doesn't look like it ever gets used, so seems a bit of a waste of time and effort .

i disagree with this mike, dennis is trying to do new things with a car that seems to becoming forgotten what with everybody being jap and german orientated lately, i think this work should be applauded TBH.

Good work Dennis

Thank you, at least some one has seen the point of this car.

just before i started this rebuild i had to make the choice of sell up and get an EVO 8 or stick with the Escort and try to refine it more.
This is no Track car and has never been and wont be, its purely a road car that i enjoy. I fully understand that there is some Extreme track cars out there. but this is a road car with the compromises to match.

Mike these brakes have worked fine on the old set up @ 450 BHP, although i did kill a set of ferodo DS2500`s , but made changes to cure this. the new engine will most likely not be more power or if it is, not by much, the aim is to produce as near as the same power at a lower boost level ( obviously i can up it if i want to )

But as anyone who knows me or has seen me in action knows this car get a kicking EVERY TIME it driven...

i just spend a lot of time cleaning it after

Nice looking car.
I can see where your coming from about keeping quite about the new things , as long as you post up your findings good or bad so people know what works and what not to bother trying in the future.
