Default Fast Ford Featured Escos Replica - Carbon clad track car - Pic Update Page6 25/8/11

Thought it was about time to start my project post as ive started work to it. Hope you read on so you all get to know a bit about me lol

Well anyway ive been looking for a escort cosworth replica for over 8months now (I know its not the real deal but read on )

Theres not a cat in hells chance i can insure my dream car at 18 So ive decided a clean replica is the way to go. I wanted the most realistic replica possible. Most replicas you see are half arsed and dont look too much like the real thing imo half of them are not even in a cosworth colour.

I stumbled across this Fast Ford Featured replica which obviously seemd to be the best i can get

Heres Some pics of the feture in Fast Ford September 2002

Now unfortunatly the car has been stood for 2years and time has took its toll Ive found hunderards of snails, slugs, spiders etc living in the engine bay and between water seals on doors etc

The underneath of the car is caked in mud have no idea why but its a mess. But none the less ive decided to take it on to get it back to top notch standerd. Theres hunderards of recipts for hunderads of genuin parts and full genuine interior seats, dash etc etc

Even though she has seen better days this is the best place to start!

Its powerd by a Fiesta RS 1800 engine pushing out 150bhp which is alot better than the CVH's most replicas have. This wasnt working when i got it but sorted that straight away.

Pics of unloading of the trailor

a quick vid of her running sounds crap because of the mobile phone quality but shes sweet.

I have major plans for this to make it even more cosworth. Too many to list, but im going to get her upto cosworth spec and standerd then hopefully get a refeature as the previous owner mentiond it. But we will see what happens

Thanks Matty

its great to see this car again, is a fantastic replica, wonder why the bloke stopped driving it. all it needs is cossie power to match everything else.
could you show more pics of around the 'cossie' gearbox tunnel area to see how it was built up to the centre console, is it carpeted wood or what?

thanks for the replys

a bearing went in the gearbox and it took a while to find the right bearing as its a escort gearbox but with fiesta rs internals. it was something like that so it got took of the road and never got put back on when fixed

ive not riped up the carpet yet, will be taking it up at some point so when i do ill grab pics

im aiming to get around 260bhp out of the duratec engine ive just bought. I will be using cosworth parts to she can legaly carry her cosworth badge

put a deposit on a 2.0 duratec engine, gearbox, engine mounts and wiring loom from a 52 plate mondeo

The ball is officialy rolling

90% of the engine ancilleries are striped out just gotta take out the engine next weekend

Found alot of parts im bidding on to for the turbo conversion so its going well.

hoping to have the new engine test fitted and pulled out in a few weeks and have all the parts i need to turbo it before crimbo so i can rebuild the engine on my hols

im just posting to express my anger as ive had to take the deposit back on the duratec engine i was buying as it is still not out of the car! he said he was to busy to take it out which is fair enough but ive been waiting since sept 30th so surly i must be some kind of priorty! when i got there tonite he was ripping a engine out of a mondeo why couldnt that be my duratec...

bit gutted because hes local so was the easyist place to go, now im gonna have to find one from somewhere which was hard enought the first time!!

plus his daughter is fine so i didint mind making the walk to mither him

Really nice cossie escort rep, if i remember it even has proper vents on the back of the front wings. Love the Hex trim aswell, leather is too common imo

the pics ive took have turnd out a bit dark, ill get some tommorow before it gets dark again.

Its the best replica ive found, i was looking for months to get a decent one but it still isnt good enough tbh

its little things like the fuel cap, got a crappy sporty one on... going to get a proper ford one on there somehow even if i have to buy a full genuine wing...

buying genuine bumpers and grills aswell

will get more pics tommorow thanks for the comments so far

Default Part 2: Finaly got the engine out

Been stripping out the front end for a while ready to take the engine out and i managed to find time to pull it out today, came out quite well considering this is the first time ive ever taken a engine out of a car

As you can see from the pics she is in a bit of a sorry state for a show car Thats what happens when you leave a car to stand for a few years

Now got a blank canvas for a RWD Zetec turbo conversion

Default Won a Ford Focus 2.5 Duratec Turbo Engine + 6 Speed Gearbox

Right well after weeks of humming and arring about what engine to go for ive decided to keep it FWD

I decided it would be pointless to convert it to RWD when there is already a legendary Escort Cosworth.

It would be pointless going through the ballache of convirting it to RWD then when/if i come to sell the car it will sell dirt cheap as the market it would apeal to will just buy a Genuine Escort cosworth

Then this focus ST engine poped up for sale and it just seemd like too good a offer to miss.

Bought it for Ł800 (Engine, manifold + turbo unit, gearbox, alternater, starter, air-con pump, turbo cat)

Hopefully i can get hold of aftermarket management alright tho

thank god ive finaly got a engine, i can try and get it in over the xmas holidays now

exactly what im thinking.

for now im just going to get a polished/flowed manifold as it needs a new manifold, exhaust wrap it, nice induction + hosing, nice big rads and intercooler then chip/map it as i need to buy after market management anyway and ill see how much bhp that gives me before i do anything major

These looks awesome.....

Be really different with that engine in and especially at that bargain price.....

I don't think i have seen an escort with one of them engines in which will make the project even more unique which is always a bonus.......

Can see alot of hard work ahead and then all the hardwork will pay off in the end......

ive not seen anyother car apart from a Focus ST with the focus ST engine in it (and dont be saying yeh i have a volvo t5 lol)

i think the car is too new for there to be alot of write offs so there pritty hard to get hold off.

Anyways alot of hard work to be done, and i think im going to have to learn how to weld lol

My aim is to get the engine in by xmas, then i can start to get her back on wheels then get her wired up etc

*Thanks for the support guys!*
