Default Bricks & stuff - Updated 10/05/08

... our house

It all started at the beginning of 2006. Takes about 6 months to have a plan made up by an architect and to get the council to approve it so building started in july.

Don't have a good picture of the land before we started building but this comes close.
Already installed a fence here for our dogs and garage & carport were already there.

So let's order some more. Work ain't over yet

Starting with the inside walls
Thank god these bricks weren't as heavy

Basement finished

Dining room

Living room

Kitchen

Garage

Color of the bricks is the same. Resizing the pictures causing the striping

And again... let's get to work!

Picture taken yesterday evening

Almost done now.
Will be starting with the roof at the beginning of july

Pretty happy with the result so far! It's finally starting to look like the house we've been dreaming off for over a year
Untill a few weeks back it was just a row of bricks

Thanks for the comment btw

@smitsturbo: there is a saying that every Belgian is born with a brick in his stomach so building in stead of buying is very common overhere

Setup in the basement is pretty much the same as the setup of the ground floor so it's for stability reasons aswell.

@K.Goa: good luck with your project. It's quite an adventure to say the least

I don't know anything about roofconstructions but a friend of ours (who works in construction) says it's the best one he's ever seen so I suppose it's more than ok

that scafolding is bloody impressive and i bet it dont shake and wobble like our stuff does

weve moved into our new house this summer, work started summer 2005 after spending 4 years trying to get planning permission, beet the bar stewerding council in the end, and the neighbours and the parish council :blub: been an absolute nightmare i personally hate the house as its in a little hollow

weve just put planning permission in for a large porch.....bet that wont be done till this time next year

that basement is also well cool, good luck with the rest of it

Stairway to hea... the upstairs

Will someday be finished with wood or tiles or whatever. Doesn't look all that nice atm but hey... no more wobbly ladders for me

And then... after waiting for more than 3 months... garagedoor & windows

Now it finally is a real house in stead of a building site

Can hardly wait to move in.
