Default My Project :D Mk1 fezzy with 4x4 cossie powahhhh

Hi guys, been arround for awhile had a few different RS's and XR's.....been out of the game for a bit as i've just brought a house and didnt have the cash to get myself a cossie etc....

Anyhow managed to get a 33k virtually rot free mk1 fiesta for 170 quid
And a Xr4x4 2.0 DOHC for the chassis, ,diffs, shafts gearbox etc....would be sacrillage to chop up a 4x4 sapphy for that!

Here are a few pics of where I'm at now...got the fiesta stripped ready for cutting up..... the sierra is currently chopped into bits and propped up agains my garage wall

It's going to be space framed with a rally slag look, kindof like whats in my sig..... Got a panique wide arch kit for it and am planning on cutting any exess metal out and using either c/fibre or ally sheet to reduce the weight (free bhp )) As for engine and box, probably looking at a 380bhp motor to start with and a standard box (got two so makes sense to abuse them 1st and learn how to drive the thing properly)....with plans to go to somewhere near 450 and a R&D or fixit gearbox in time.

Breaks are going to be 325mm disks and 9 inch 4 pot brembo's

It's early days at the minute and funds are tight right now (doing a month in hanbd at work its killing me) so things are likely to change...just brought a welder and pipe bender ready for the weekend

OHHHHH and btw i'm and engineer with an advanced apprenticeship in Fabrication/Welding...currently work as a weld engineer so hopefully havent bitten off more than I can chew time will tell.....

Wish me luck

Dan

Ohh and ghost I didnt mean I had no money...just had to watch what I spent it on as not to upset the missus....Can't be spending loads on my project when we've only just moved in together.

Although what she dont knwo wont hurt her I haven't lied to her but if she wants to think these are all old sierra bits then thats fine by me!

*************RIGHT BIG UPDATE**********

Got hold of some GrpA LEDA front coilovers, concentric top mounts & BILLSTEIN rear coilovers.....the leda sprouted a leak from the remote reervoir so theyre on their way to leda to be refurbed/sealed/gasses/bled etc...(muchos thanks to PETE rs breaker for helping towards the cost of repair for the faulty shock) the billies and concentrics have been treated to a set of replacement spherical bearings and a good clean up...ready to use.

Brought an engine...........
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...2618&rd=1&rd=1
Basically got the full engine, fast road ap clutch and cover, bd10's, fully worked head & inlet, low comp bottom end all recently rebuilt with receipts, Very good condition loom and L8 ecu for 1600 quid fucking deal eh!

Got some 1000cc MSD injectors on their way, along with a 5 bar map sensor and billet housing...secs S8 ecu

I have some 330mm AP disks/bells and some 9 inch brembo 4 pots ready to have brackets made.

Sierra rear subframe if just about ready for tube bending but getting hold of the right tube is proving a bit difficult tbh...

Off work next week on shutdown so will put up pics of my progress then..hopefully going to get a good 5-6 days on the car then....wish me luck guys............

what does 2rm mean?

Basically i'm a bit of a fusspot so not doing it the conventional way of grafting in the bulkhead and floor; i'm making a space frame chassis and getting that mounted in the car along with the engine, transmission, rear beam front x-member etc... then i'm going to basically fabricate a comprehensive rollcage and tie it all in to the space frame chassis...once its all welded up and tied into the fiesta shell i'll go round with the plasma cutter and whip out as much weight from the fiesta shell as possible, blank it all off with alluminium pannels and get it sprayed...

The fibreglass bodykit saves a hell of a lot of weight as you can cut a lot of metal from underneath them...Once I have the tubular chassis in there I can basically remove about 65% of the fiesta structure as its strenght is no longer required.

Radiator in boot, things like battery, ecu etc... can all be located anywhere they're going to help the weight distribution a little.

Are you on msn? what do you want to know? I have lots of ideas/info if you wanna chat send me a pm with your messenger details.

car got sold on unfortunately as a series of bargain shells came my way and I had all the bits to build one....got rid of mk1 shell for a 3dr shell then did the same with the 3rd when an insaley good bargain (Ł3300 IIRC) came up on an escos 909 shelled full car (minus engine box and diffs) so I got that.

I now have the escort shell stripped in the garage poised for a roofskin swap (it has a sunroof...LOL don't know how that happened on a 909 shell but it has...and yes it is a 909 shell I've checked already) & some rollcage additions.

Don't really want to do a thread on my escos, i'm a bit paranoid about people knowing too much tbh.

I'll chat about it on pm if your interested but not doing another thread
