Now been in our new home for over 6 months and have only just really got my garage sorted out where i can actualy move in it.

Last thing i did on the car was remove the engine

I then sold it to pay the solicitors fees for the house move.

Then i bought this 1600 K-series very cheap

I then decided i didnt want to use a car engine so i sold it.

The other month i was pissed off with the car and put it up for sale as i didnt think id ever get it done.

On night i had a guy come and view it and another phone to see it the next day, this made me want to keep it (dont know why) after the guy left i went on ebay and bought this lol

Its another ZX10 engine lol.

The car currently looks like this

I have removed all the suspension for painting and im currently making a new engine cradle and a new chain diff.

Im now hoping to get alot of work done in the next few months but i dont know if i will have it completed this year mainly due to cash shortage lol.

Got a bit of work done over the last few days.

Made some new bearing mounts for the rover diff. I was going to use pillow block bearings but the mounts were too wide and would have fouled the diff so i made these at work.

Mocked up

All welded up and placed on the end of the diff to check that it wont foul

Now fully fitted to the diff

All together with drive shafts and uprights, just making sure everything turns without catching.

Custom made uprights and brackets to take Saxo front calipers

The new rear lower engine mount

Front lower engine mount

And the front upper mount, still to be welded on.

Over the next week or so the engine mounts will be complete, the mounts for the diff will be welded in and the diff/shafts etc will all be painted and fitted.

Did a little more on the diff

With its new frame

the ends of the tube needed threads so i did this by welding 2 small square blocks together with an 8.5 mm hole and this was then taped with an M10 thread.

The diff can now be bolted in place

Over the next few days i will have the lower tensioners fitted.

Right spot the difference lol

BEFORE

AFTER

got bored of only 1 engine and decided to give myself a real challenge. there now mounted with only the rear lower mount to make/fit. I'm a bit skint at the minute so cant get much done right now but it will moving along slowly as the funds allow. I'm aiming now for a sub 500kg final weight which is still a realistic target.

Both engines will turn a shaft that will be above the chain diff then a chain will go down to the final diff to turn the wheel.

Wide Ka:

I pretty much have it all worked out in my head how it will all go but and help would deff be an extra bonus.

Excellent mate, I have wanted to build a twin bike engine kit car for years, I planned on using two V-Twins though for a laugh. "Is that a Scooby engine in there mate?"

Good going!!!

That's fucking cool, how do you make a diff chain driven as I assume it still needs oil or lube of some sort?

Depends on the diff. i just sealed it up and filled it with CV grease. there are better ways but this will do for now. I plan to make a better diff with an oil supply when i can afford to.

Im using an LSD from a rover PG1 box. The car has the same rear track as a MGF and uses MGF drive shafts so was easy to use the Rover diff rather that make custom shafts to suit an other diff.

Just thought id put up a few pics, no real progress today but i had to put the car on its wheels so i could move it out of the garage as i'm digging out my pit. First time its been on its wheels in about a year so was nice to see it back rolling. forgot how low/small it is.

Got a few parts coming next week so i can get the jack shaft built up and have the diff mounted.

an extra gear will be fitted to either the diff or jack-shaft and a starter motor mounted to it. this will give enough power to move the car backwards.

The car has been for sale for a week now and had a few emails/calls but nothing serious yet so it could still be staying. just wish i had some cash to do more work. will proberly be shoved to the back of the garage untill i get some more funds.
