3 door rebuild (UPDATE 15/5/10)
As some of you know i purchased a 3 door just before Christmas so i finally decided today that id get going on it and clear some space around it to get to work.
1st thing i'll be doing is to strip the engine (which i've already removed) to make sure everything is as it should be. I will get onto that some night this coming week.
Anyway a few pics just to get things going.
Picking it up last year. Note it has been sat for around a year at this stage
Got it home, opened the bonnet and was greeted by this
Gave the bird $hit a rinse off and stuck it in the garage for a couple of weeks.
Was now time to remove the engine ect and see just what we had so after a couple of hrs was left with this.
Like i said that was before Christmas so its sat since then due to other commitments.
Today i pushed it out the garage to give the place a clear out.
Pushed it back in and threw the cover over again but hopefully it shouldnt be too long before its off and im getting to work on the car its self

Also looked out the managment and loom which is going to be a bit of a head fry me thinks
LOL its a good job i enjoy this sort of stuff
Just a few more pics of nothing really different im affraid
Engine (again)
On the stand just waiting to be stripped
And the Managment and loom
Hopefully tommorow night i should have the sump off at least.

The other engine is the genuine 40,000 mile one out of the car
Think the new engine is around the 450ish mark but i will reserve judgement until its going and i get it on some decent rollers

Removed the Sump last night and checked the Mains and Big Ends so everything looks good
Will fit a new Oil Pump and the Windage tray (spelling) then look into getting a Big Wing sump to go back on.
Found a couple of things im not happy with like the Sump plug threads which are Łucked and the bottom pully has a huge split in it among other sheared bolts ect that need to be sorted out.
Could always Helicoil the sump plug and get the Wings welded on to the original sump but will look into it.
I will probably remove everything around the head tonight and get that ready to lift off.
Couple of pics of the sump plug
Yes that is Instant Gasket

Paul PM Lee@Fusion he did my big wing sump, excellent price with a quick turn around. Think he does these exchange not that you'd want to give him that sump
Nice to see your cracking on with it

Dave,
Really hope to have this at Croft.
The Evo would be good but this will be more fun
Kev,
Yeah it will be interesting to see just what its puting out
Well the update for tonight is that i have just the timing belt left to remove and i will be able to lift the head.
Spent a couple of hrs pulling off the turbo / inlet manifold and odds and ends so tomorrow night i'll whip the head off, get everything checked out and hopefully start putting it back together in the next couple of weeks.
how its left

Well thought I had better have a quick look to see the progress being made and see if I could get some kind of idea what time my husband will be appearing inside at tonight!
You would think he would be making the most of his spare time relaxing over the next couple of weeks before it is all go on the extension again.
Think now that he has got a nice new car he is having withdrawals from having to open a cossie bonnet every five minutes to see what the problem is.

I will be appearing inside at approx 19:00hrs tonight so if you have my bath ready and the supper in the oven that would be appreciated You can then take a 1/2hr off before washing the dishes
Ryan
Plans are to leave it looking as standard as possible would even like to retain the original wheels but they wont fit over the brakes They should be the only external thing thats different to the eye.

Small update
Have been having a little problem getting the head off and have split 3 sockets in the process but tonight i gave it a bash with socket no 4 and it worked
So the head is now on the bench ready for stripping which i hope to get done through this week.
The Ba$tid nuts that caused all the problems
