Cheers lads

Ordered my Pistons today, have gone for wossner forged jobbies. They will be coming direct from Germany as they didnt have my size in. Will take about 5-10 days to arrive.

Its going to be a push to get her ready for Coombe on the 7th, i wont give up untill the day before though. I will see if i can get a weeks leave the week before to try and get it sorted.

Right thought it was about time i did a little update seeing as i now have all of my bits.

Picked my block up today and gave it a good clean in the parts washer at work:

Sump i collected of Mike R [R&B Motorsport] last night:

Also Christian [APT] Dropped off my Harness's. 1xPro for me and 1xClubman for passenger seat:

I thought that while the engine was out it would be rude not to give it a bit of a tidy up. I rubbed some bits down and sprayed them in Aluminium VHT paint, i am really please with how they have turned out:

I also decided to upgrade my breather while i was at it. Got it off Pete from Rs Specialists, came with braided hose's with a proper return to the sump:

My Wossner pistons finally turned up at home after UPS lost them. Ordered a new Bottom header tank hose from roose. A new throttle bracket and a few other bits and bobs.

My old man offered to lap my new valve in and while he was at it he took all the others out and checked them and re lapped them all in. Fitted new Stem seals and checked the guides. Also cleaned up any of the tappets that needed it.

Dont have any pictures of the above as they are at home. I will pick them up on friday and then go up to my mate Neils. We are planning on building the engine over a curry and a few beers, then fitting it on the Saturday if nothing goes tits up. Nothing ever goes right when it comes to my car so something will probably piss on our chips.

Well it lives, Got the engine in and running last Thursday.

I must say a Massive thanks to my mate Neil [Intelligent tuning] for helping me out and putting in some very late nights so i could get it finished in the week i had off and in time for Combe.

I must also thank my old man for coming out of retirement to do my Cylinder head and help me finish the car off Thursday[ran rings around me]. Car made it to Combe and is running well and feels very strong, just need to finish off the running in that take it back to Ahmed so he can map it.

Not got any engine bay pictures yet as i couldn't be bothered to take any but i will get some up soon.

I now need a new exhaust as the baffles in my centre box are shagged and the rattling is doing my head in. I also have a few bits i want to fit/get before i next put the car on track.

Small update, the running in will be done by the time i get back from Ford Fair

Phonned Mark at Grove and booked it in for Mapping when i am off over August. Could have done it the week of the 13th but i would then be without a car, so its going in the week after and i will leave it for a couple of days as i am going to see the Foo Fighters in Edinburgh for my Bday[Cheers Steph ].

Hopefully it will go without a snag as i am booked on track at Croft for the following Saturday.

Pic of the engine as it stands now:

I will order my Ahmed spec springs this week and a already have new set of Konis to put them on. I want to get this and the Shins done atleats before Croft if i can. The Adjustable TCA's for my 3 Dr hubs will have to wait i think.

I like both tbh mate, Sticky says these are like 205 GTi wheels and he's right lol. I like them though, and wanted a set for 12months.

My mate rubbed hubs down and painted them with Hammerite, came up really well.

Cheers mate, wish my shell was as nice as yours though.

I guess i better do a bit of an update as alots happened:

I got the car all run in and so i phonned Mark at Grove to see when they could fit me in in August as i had 3 weeks leave to take. Booked the car in for the Monday after National Day and leave the car with them for the week as i didnt need it.

On the way home on leave coming out of a round about as i was coming on boost i felt the car stutter so i lifted off the gas and when i straighted up it was fine. Did this on every exit to a round about from then on so i just took it very easy.

Phonned a few mates, Matt and Diva to ask them what they thought. Both said Fuel tank, this problem cost Matt 2 engines before they kneww what it was. Diva sorted me a Tank, and i went up to Diva towers to fit it on the saturday before ND. Was pissing down and even with a gazibo[spl] me and Diva got drenched. Diva didnt tell me he is allergic to Benzine till 3/4 done He got it all fitted up and i just sorted the last few bolts. Cheers to Sticky, Shorty, and Tony for the company

The car was better but still not great on the test drive. Took alook at the Fuel pump wiring aswell, now me and my mate Paul re did this when i got the car and even thought better than standard Diva said it wasnt up to the job. He then re wired the whole pump for me and the car was fine from then on Massive thanks for that mate Will have to send me the pics over and i will get them up.

Went to ND [not best show ever] and didnt even bother to wash car. I did notice my header tank had spat some water out though. Thought nothing of it and that it might have been a bit over full. I also noticed a small knocking from the front under hard cornering. Drove car home and was fine and then dropped it off at Grove on the monday morning.

Mark phonned me and said one of my TCA's was buggered and that was the nocking. Told him to fit a pattern part as i have 3 dr hubs to go on, i am going to get some Adjustable TCA's so didnt want to fork out for a gen Ford TCA.

Went down to Grove on the Friday to pick the car up, had to wait for Ahmed to turn up and Map it. It had been raining all week and they couldnt map it as it will spin up in 4th in the wet. Mark had sorted my Suspension though. Ahmed Track Spec Springs, New Konis, New beam mounts[mine were shot], and Mark had shimmed my standard beam it now has 2 degree Neg and 2 degree toe in.

Car got mapped and Mark and Ahmed said have fun on the way home

Big thanks to Matt, Diva, Mark & Ahmed.

On the Drive how i first noticed how much better the car handled and how it was much smoother to drive. I then noticed how much more grip it had even in Second gear in a straight line it would just squat a little, grip and go.

Very pleased with the car and how much quicker it was. Then as i was slowing down as the traffic got bad i noticed a puff of water coming out of the bonnet vent I knew it was the Gasket straight away as this is what happened when my old one started to go. Funny thing is it was fine under mapping and i even looked at the header tank when it came back in when and it was fine. Shouldn't have been a wanker and fitted a Cometic one and just got a GrpA in the first place

Car ran superb all the way home, theres a series of 4 round abouts with a byepass on the last bit before i get home. Car went throught the first very well then going into the 3rd one it started missing coming out so i just lifted off and then it did it again on the last one. Ruined my day tbh and i was a pain in the arse all night. Sorry Steph, Mum & Dad.

Luckily it was my Bday the Saturday so i forgot about the car and went out with Steph and some close friends for a meal and got smashed. Diva said bring it down Monday and we will sort it. I had a play about Sunday making sure all the connectors behind the glove box were all in etc. On the way to Diva towers it was fine and didnt do it, so we put it down to a crap connection. Car was fine to drive aslong as i didnt give it to much boost, it wouldnt spit the contents of the header tank out.

The problem i then had was i didnt have time to sort the head gasket before Croft so i had to Phone Dingy and cancel my track time for the Saturday Proper gutted. Still went up for the weekend, and i am glad i did. Superb show and nice to meet up with some friends and meet a few new people. Had a really good night Saturday and quite a few beers

On the way home the Car then developed another Electrical problem where it would just loose all signal to the Rev counter and i wouldnt have any power etc. Spoke to Richie[B9 kos] the other night and he said check all the ignition Amp and Coil connectors. I checked them all and made sure they were all tight, seems to have worked when i took it out last night as car didnt struggle when a bike had a pop at me when i was out picking a star drive off Stu[The original] to do my head gasket

Had a slow day at work today so i decided to to strip the head off the and get it done. All went fine apart from snapping an exhaust stud[down pipe one]. Got the head on the bench at work will strip the manifolds off tomoro and check the head alright and its flat. I will get the turbo over to work shops for them to get the studs out. While its off i have decided to get a few bits cleaned up and change a few others. Dont really need the car till the weekend of Rally day so i thought i may aswell do it while its in bits.

Cheers to Diva again, Richie, and Stu

P.S. Sorry no pics lost lead for Camera.
