Update time [second time i have written this lost it first time ]

Right Mark phonned me tonight [he woke me up was having a kip ]

Turns out the problem was the wiring to the ignition amp was fucked. Someone at some stage has rewired it for what ever reason and hadn't insulated it properly, this has let water in and knackered all the wiring to the amp Mark said water sarted running out when he was unwrapping it thats how bad it was Mark also said they had wired it up wrong Why do people mess with things they dont understand

My old man said to me once that 'A car is only as good as the person who owned it before you'. Seems like i have spent since June sorting out other people short cuts and fuck ups. If any of the pervious owners ever read this and did those bodge jobs i have a present for you.

Anyway Its now running on the L8 with a base map. Ahmed is Mapping all day on the dyno tomoro so Marks going to get all the other bits sorted. They are hoping to map her on Wednesday and then i will pick her up asap. Fingers X for me everyone, i am hoping she will be at Central day on Sunday.

I Know its taken longer than i thought. Felt a bit of a shit and i wouldnt have dropped it off with them if i had known about the loom problem, but i really cant thank Mark and Ahmed enough for sorting the old girl for me

Also got some new hoses from Roose:

Water:

Filter to turbo and Turbo to IC:

Also have my new steering wheel to fit which i will do after Central day as its at home.

It will just be nice to get her back tbh, needs a bloody good buftying.

Next step is take her down to APT and see what she does on there rollers.

All being well i am picking her up tomoro Marks taken her up the road on base map and said shes gona be bloody good fun Ahmeds coming to map her this afternoon and Mark will ring me and let me know how they got on.

Its going to be an interesting drive back whenever i pick her up. Not driven a car in 8 weeks and just been driving 110 Landrovers and Troop Carriers

Marks told me a new rad might be a good idea as mines looking worse for wear. One of my best mates a Forge Dealer, will get one of there alloys rads as i am impressed by there RS500 Cooler i already have on the car.

The curse of the white Saph has hit me aswell

Mark and Ahmed were out mapping the car and was going fine. They noticed it smoking slightly when under boost. Took it back wipped the plugs out and on No2 it's was showing small amount of Det Checked the compression and its a little down on all but only No2 is the only one thats giving the problems.

Mark and Ahmed think it could be from bore washing as the old injectors were to big[not fitted my me]and its nipped the rings up and its letting oil up, which is causing the Det. Cars still alright to drive but the boost has been capped and i have to got to be carefull with her till i get it sorted.

Mark said he could do the work but i would be waiting a while. Tbh i wouldnt be able to afford it either. Car will be getting picked up and then going home via Central Day on Sunday. My mate Neil who knows his stuff and i trust more than anyone will strip the engine down with me helping out[he doesn't know any of this yet as he's on holiday he gets back friday ]. We will see whats wrong and what needs replacing.

Mark and Ahmed said that Piston No2 could be fucked aswell but cant be sure, i wont know untill i get it out anyway[anyone know best place to get 1x 7.2:1 in +0.5mm piston from?]. I have another block lined up which is the correct bore for my pistons and has just been honed, so if i have any damage to the bores i will put this one in.

Once shes all back together and sorted i will take her back down to Grove for Ahmed and Mark to finish off the mapping.

Its a right royal pain in the arse but no point munking about it as thats not going to get it fixed. Will just get her sorted asap and wait for the next thing to break

Looks like my new wheels and Rear beam are going to have to wait for a bit

Right picked the car up last night. A big thanks to Paul for taking me down Cheers bud car sounds amazing when flys past, going to be mental once set up

Cars boost has been capped to 17psi so i can still drive it. Ahmed says he only needs a few hrs to finish the mapping once the cars sorted again. The cars already so much nicer to drive and i cant wait to get it finished.

I know i should be driving it nice and slowly. When a Scooby with a front mount went flying past spitting flames with Paul guled to his back bumper that became hard to do All i am saying is she didnt do bad at all seeing as i was trying to go gental on the old girl

Next up is get her clean for Sunday as i have never seen any of my cars this dirty before As i am on leave next week i will get the car home and open her up so we can find out whats wrong with her, as soon as my mate Neil can fit her in.

Right time for a bit of an update.

This is how the car looked a day before Central day:

This is how it looks after Saturday:

Head off.

What you cant really see from the pics are indents on the top of No2 piston. We think this has been caused by the tip of the spark plug comming off. One of the exhaust valves has a chip out of it aswell that i forgot to take a pic out of.

The bores pretty much fucked aswell. But after i noticed whats in the next pic it didnt really matter. How i havn't noticed this by now is beyond me It must have been done a good while ago as its been painted over when the engine work was done

Oh and my 'WRC' head gasket turned out to be a bit more like Partco

What has surprised my missus the most is how chilled out i have been about it. She doesn't know it but its down to her putting me in a fantastic mood i have just taken it in my stride so far.

A good few people know who built this engine and i am sure its mentioned in the thread somewhere, i am not saying anything i will let the pics do the talking. I know the car was sold the week after it being on there stand at a show aswell so sure nothings been tampered with it after it left them.

I am not saying any more on the subject as it's not going to help get it sorted.

As for where i go from here, i will take the rest out next weekend and go from there. I have the choice of 2 205 blocks that are the same bore as i already have so would save me cash. I also i might have turned up 200 block and bottom end with standard bore which would mean buying new low comp pistons, its not the cheap option but i will go this route if i can get the block.

Cars at my mates unit in Chester Martin.

I had to help my mate with his golf last weekend so not got alot more done. He is going to drop the bottom end and gear box out for me this week. Bearings and the other bits will be ordered as soon as he's done this.

Already sorted new gasket set and got another oil breather so i can run an airbox.

Right little bit of an update.

This is where we are at the minute:

I Just need to see if Ahmed can do me 7.2-1 pistons and GGR no longer do them. If not i will just have to get the 7.5-1 and have them machined.

I have a new block sorted that i will have the machine work done, when i get my pistons and i can give them to the machinest so he can do match the bores to them.

Once i have all the bits i will get the block cleaned out to remove all the swarf, then Stu[The original] has offered to build the engine up for me aslong as i help him so i can do my own next time. Massive thanks to Stu cheers mate, it will have a 'Built by Scrote Motorsport' sticker to prove it

A few of the parts i have:

Mike [R&BMotorsport] is sorting my Big wing sump for me, It also having an oil return for my breather welded in and a temp sensor boss.

I painted a few bits today like the water pump housing, Engine mounts and a few other bits. I know what some are thinking, they will look shit but i am pleased with them just look like brand new items. Will get pics up later in the week if i have time.

I want to get then engine bay cleaned up and new Clutch cable fitted before i put the engine back in. Need to make a shield to go around the Alternator wiring as you can see where its been getting hot. My own stupid fault for not having a drop bracket with a T4, i have ordered one so should be better now.

I am down to be on the PF stand at Coombe so the engine needs to be in for then, might be a bit of a rush but i will do my best to get it sorted.
