Default Operation Gooney Bus (Track Car)

Just though i would put a quick post of our track car we built up over the past 8 months

Myself and Ratty have decided to build a track car, we bought a cheap trailer then spent a couple of months sorting that out.

We decided a Maestro as parts are cheap, cars are cheap, can make good power, way fook all.
The other option was 205gti

We firstly just got the car, cage and it had a seat in it, we then took it apart played, painted and sorted it and its a couple weeks of been finished.

We need to sort out some better lights for front, roll cage padding, mount the seats and harnesses, trim inside doors, mount extinguisher, engine stop e.t.c

Managed to get local company to buy us couple of bits if we put there name on it.

we have booked for Coobe on Swindon day and looking at a few track days next month with bookatrack

I tracked me saff a fair few times and Ratty has done lot of track work, we are building to MSA regs so we can do hillclimb,

Power at present will be about 230bhp and 800kg

Ratty just built a megasquirt to change to fuel injection later in year, possibility of moving to a Auti TT engine next year depending

Pics below

Notice the unusual route of the exhaust through the spare wheel well

Looks cool, i remember when we me and my mates bought four maestro turbos from and old guy in rotherham with all the intentions of making them into track cars for the guys we were all with then, they just ended up rotting outside our unit and they got scrapped.

Should make a VERY fun car, will be watching out for this one.

we sold part. swapped old sapph parts, bought parts and sold on parts.
Like i bought some wheels for it paid £140 decided not to use sold on ebay last week £280

All in all theres about £2k
Not bad when the new seats and harnesses cost £400

But its had a full inside and out respray, all other stuff done by us.

The sponser gave us £800 for putting his name on it so that payed for the paint.

He has also bought us new helmets

It actually stands us about £600 each
