zvh ka build *ap racing 4 pots*
well this is my first car, and also first project that i have done, and although it might not be up2 some of the standards of what you guys do on here, i dont think its come out too badly lol.
it started out like this last march when i bought it, bog standard apart from a jvc head unit, and cost £300
started to strip it to sort out a dent that was in the rear quater and some rust on the boot and found a few other problems
the bodywork was done mostly by my dad, well, he sprayed it and made sure it was smooth enough after i had slapped some filler in it and knocked the dent out, then back in the garage it went to be sprayed,
it was around this point that i decided i didnt want to leave it standard, so along came a few of the mods, inclusing some of the following
oz super t gt's
ford racing arch's
i colour coded the boot handle as im not too keen on smoothed boots
made some mesh grills
and some bonnet raisers
and a sport ka n/s rear light with no reverse light, and some clear headlights
the car was then put back together and was looking like this
next mod was some escort cossie front brakes, picked up from a local ford spares place, calipers were bead blasted, hubs modified to fit them
was then time to bring it down from the clouds and get it dropped a bit, so along came some koni coilovers, which then left it looking like this
chucked in some ICE (in typical 17 year old fashion lol)
then i passed my test in october, and started to use it like that for a while doing small mods along the way such as changing the interior to black instead of the nasty blue
stripped the back out
then decided that an engine change was in order, couldnt do anything extreme because of insurance, so decided to go for a well built endura, so started building one, and also bought a pair of reclining bucket seats.
booked myself a week off work to put the engine and other bits and pieces on, then 5 days before i was due to change it, i did this
luckily the chassis wasnt touched, and the lampost that i hit fell down which took the brunt of the force, and although there was a fair bit of damage, it was all repairable.
managed to find a lot of the parts that i needed from a local scrap yard, rear beam, bottom arm, bottom arm mount, driveshaft, etc etc, so this time in mind, i started to change the engine
as you can see in the pics above the damaged front corner of the front panel was cut off, this is because it seemed easier to change just that one corner rather than having to drill all the spot welds out of the other perfectly good corner, then have even more hassle lining it all up again.
with the new engine in and running it was time for some more bodywork
along with a couple of gauges
and some shots of the new engine
then a bit more bodywork
some cheapo wheels to last me a few weeks
then i luckily managed to find someone who happened to have a drivers side front racing arch lying around, so snapped that up.
at the moment the car is now all back together and i have started using it again, its not quite right at the moment, the front shock is bent slightly, new one should be here tomorrow, its got odd wheels on it, the front wing is in yellow primer, the arch corner is purple, and is still running on the standard ecu as i cant afford to have the new one mapped yet, but at least at the moment i can get about in it
last night, i found some white comp mo's for sale which i have to go and pick up this saturday coming, then hopefully when the bodywork is finished it should all be fairly back to normal, although the repair bill hasnt worked out cheap with the shock costing £225 and other repairs coming to round about £350
heres the spec on the car as of when it will be all finished in the next week or so.
engine
bored out to 1.4
ported, polished, skimmed head with raised compression ratio
kent cam
50mm puma throttle body
pipercross panel filter with cold air feed
fully remapable ecu
lightened and balanced flywheel
AP clutch
4-2-1 manifold
powerflow exhaust with 2" bore
sports cat
exterior
ford racing arch's
colour coded boot handle
clear side repeaters
bonnet raisers
sport ka n's rear light
suspension/handling
koni coilovers
sport ka roll bar
powerflex roll bar bush's
ford racing rear stub axle spacers
brakes
escort cossie front brakes
mintex pads
custom length braided hoses
calipers painted red
interior
stripped interior
remaining interior changed to black
gauges
shoes
15" white comp mo's
195-45-15 toyo proxes t1-s tyres
im not done by a long way yet though, am still tempted to turbo the endura
put my seats in
momo steering wheel
cage
braided hoses all round
rosejointed bottom arms
polybushed all round
remove even more interior
another pair of clear headlights
pace rad
all silicone hoses
basically still lots that i want to do yet, but this is basically how it is at the moment, its not drastically quick, couldnt have anything like that for insurance purposes as im only 18, but its quick enough to deal with a paxo vts as i found out today lol
thanks for reading, any comments welcome.

Looks better now mate
but i cant help but think this statement is 100% true
" i started to change the engine "
you missed out the bit where it says NickyMi2 dragged his sorry ass outta bed late everyday to walk about 3 miles in the freezing cold to help
you also forgot to mention the thanks to me for beadblasting your stuff, been good moral support in your time of need and providing a safe working environment...

Quick update on ben behalf as he has some problems logging onto Pf
Unfortunatly not a good update either..
Some utter cock has reversed into Bens Ka today at what would seem more than a fair speed needed to parallel park.. Then just drove off like some scummy little chav would do
It has caused the Front middle of the bumper to be damaged (new one on order)
And also the bonnet now has a 15+cm crease/crack and various other bits of damage to.!
Nothing that isnt reparible but its now haulted (might still go ahead ) his trip this weekend to pick up his Ford Racing Puma Brakes

He forgot to mention that on closer inspection the next day that when the lampost fell down it crushed a rabbit at the other end (not a joke either totally serious!)

some more pictures as i havent posted any for a while, but as nick said, some ass hole reversed into it a few weeks ago, but here are some more recent pics.
it was put back together and i used it like this for a few weeks
then i went and picked up my new wheels
it was then used in this state for another few weeks
heatwrapped the CAT and started to do the manifold
last weekend it was sprayed
and heres what i have done this weekend.
taken the carpet out
removed sound proofing
resprayed the inside
and thats pretty much it for now.
have also found out that it isnt the shock thats bent from the crash, its something much more simple that i never thought of at the time.
the ka i stripped at the scrap yard had power steering, mine hasnt, so i'v got odd bottom arms, the power steering one being shorter lol.
have also had some new rear brakes from a racing puma which are on the back now but havent taken any pics of those yet.
list of things needed now..........
bottom arm
bonnet as mine is creased from where the twat hit it
matching rear tyres
list of things wanted..........
clear headlights
white powdercoated cage
remap
new injectors
carbon fibre door cards
new centre caps (picking up on tuesday afternoon)
braided hoses (already sorted)
and the list goes on.

a few more recent piccies.
roof lining removed
rear disk conversion from a racing puma
new cold air feed, much bigger than the old 1, big hole in the side of the air box with the dremel, almost 2.5" diameter ducting sealed into the air box with silicone, then positioned in the grill. ducting in the bottom grill is 4" diameter and feeds air round to the manifold as its behind a few things.
decatted
rear strut brace, will cut the lugs off each end and weld it straight between the turrets.
finished heatwrapping the manifold
resprayed the front panel as it was really full before
and a bit of colour coding just to brighten it up a bit.
have also been messing around with the engine a bit more, decatting it helped a little, now also hav a k&n panel filter, found the correct valve clearances for the cam, that cold air feed, modified the ports on the inlet manifold a bit to get tham to match the larger ports on the head, took the restrictor out of the inlet manifold, just daft bits really but they've helped a little bit, and every bit counts when your only using an old OHV crossflow lump lol.
just needs remapping now any comments or suggestions welcome

samco and sfs sell silicone tape to wrap the hoses in but its £10 for 3m, just use blue electrical tape, exactly the safe effect and a dam sight cheaper.
thanks for the comments people.
just made a quick video as well, didnt thrash it too much but you can hear the revs pick up a fair bit quicker when i did, also gives you a rough idea of where the cam picks up best.

well, with a baby on the way the ka was no good, so i'v bought a mk4 fiesta as a run around, and the ka's having a bit of work done, will be used as a toy from now on, will be completley bare and i'v started building a zvh for it.
here are a few pics so far
me nick and jadyn had a mess with the car earlier, well, me an nick did, jadyn watched and started taking all the stickers off it lol.
rest of the sound proofing gone from inside the rear quaters and the roof
started taking some bits off the engine
and a few random pictures
knocked this up in place of where the clock used to be
and here are some bits that i'v bought for it so far which i had to go and pick up last week
some pipes and hoses
pins for the boot
charge carrier
injectors
intercooler
downpipe
exhaust
inlet
everything gone from the boot, wiper hole will have a rubber bung in it, locks etc gone as it will be pinned

still cant believe you picked it up for £300
seemed a shame to chop up th OMP brace could of just welded any bar in and sold the OMP thing on ebay......welding between the struts is far more effective though
