Coming along nicely
Still a bit wierd for me seeing some of these pics, as they give me a tingle and remind me of my times with that actual car. I never thought I would see some of those specific parts again.
Like the steering column in the one shot, in 1993 (long before mobile phones) I was at a 21st birthday party in a local bowls club one night and my Dad turned up out of the blue, the police had rang him to say the car had been broken into in the carpark. Out we went and the bastards had bent the column trying to break the steering lock, luckily we had a hidden kill switch as they had got past the alarm, and they coudnt start it.
I clearly still remember going down the breakers yard the next day to pull out a replacement column as they are a standard sierra part, which is the one in the pic.
On the rear panel are the child seat belt anchors still welded on - they came out of a Holden of all things my uncle fitted them to get it through compliance.
Was and still is a great example

Awesome Linc ... good to see your still chipping away getting stuff done ... slowly slowly catch the monkey ! Keep it up.
You've got some awesome hardware going into this machine ...
Is the engine at the same place as the car ? ... gotta catch up again and have a sticky beak

It was a Newton fuel cap and made a alluminium "ring" to put inside the standard filler area. Can send you a cad drawing or make you a ring (pretty sure a mate Vic wants one too) if you want. You need to grind a little of the standard filler area and the back of the filler has a 50mm or 56mm ring so could easily adapt to a standard tank via a piece of flex pipe - want me to take a few photo's of the back area?

Ok got the car ready for painting today and was all set to send the creative carbon bonnet off to get painted white on top but hit a bit of a stumbling block when i fitted it.... and it looked awesome.
The weave does not come out much in the photo's
What do you think? I am going to have to paint it I think as it may look a little ricey.

no, not ricey, the wheels just perfect, the carbon hood also fits in the picture. ok, the white -black hood is the "panda style", came from riceland but they fucked up, because the black should not be shiney, gotta be silky, no reflection from the sun. just like the am.futball guys put black under their eyes.
whatever, i think its cool

I know where your coming from Linc ... its a touch 'boyracer' ... but it would be lovely to see it ...
Not very 'Sierra' though ... The local Nissan S15's drivers will get a little confused ...
How about leaving the just underside unpainted ?

Milestone - painted the inside/engine bay and carbon bonnet. Turned out that the closest colour to the original diamond white (now faded) was a TOYOTA colour exactly. WOW.
I guess I am at the bottom of the project - onwards and upwards!

Some people may not like this but I have been scrubbing and prepping the whole underneath of the car - took ages (24hrs total I reacon) and got it cleaned all up. However instead of white that I have to keep clean I used a satin black solvent based stone guard. The whole underneath is satin black and I think it looks The stone guard remains flexible whilst still being tough.
Also fitted the front suspension and some of the rear (still need to fit rear gpa ARB). Some may not like the colour combo but sick of all black and white and wanted something to offset all the braided fittings coming. The whole car is being assembled from new cap head socket screws - incl. new arp cromo studs fitted in the hubs
Also my mate Paul has almost got his Fraser (seven style kit car) almost done too! So many custom bits on the car all fabricated by his oen hand!!!!!
10" wide centrelocks.
Offset engine mounting to fit a big driver.
Throttle bodies.
Extractors and muffler.
Wide track suspension arms.
Coilovers.
Dry sump system.
So many detail bits and pieces....
