restoration on s2 help with roof rot
hi im new to this forum i ave been following many of the s2 restorations and am amazed of the time and money that has gone into them. i have owned mine for 5 months and is coming of the road for restoration at the end of the month, but i am having trouble about the roof it has bubble rust by the sunroof and has a hole the size of a small pin head on the roof aswell does any 1 no how to repair and how? and is worth repairing?

well yes, but saved for how long is the question. You can remove the paint so that you can see all the rust. If it is small pinholes of rust, these can be poked out then small dots of weld put in there place...but very slow to keep heat down. then grind the welds down, fill and re paint....

Not to make your day any worst but u wait until you get underneath mate
The body kit hides multitude of sins
But keep your head up when you get behind the kit it broke my heart when i took mine off.
Spent 5.5k on a mint turbo thinking it would be all good
Cheers,
JIm

New roof needed. It has gone in the framework behind the skin. If you need any proof, remove a door aperture seal, gently lower the rooflining on one side by the door and look inside. There will be rust all round the join between the roofskin and the sunroof frame.
Both sides were like this on my old XR3i (H-reg).
Before
Hole dug out and ground back
Refilling using lead-loading after welding the holes.
Smoothed down
Fully repainted in a paint booth the same day all over the roof panel, came back within six months. And you can't say that was a bodge-job either.
