I am not 100% sure it is the slave...I think the slave is showing me a bigger problem. My mate is like Yoda when it comes to these things so I will get him to diagnose. He told me to take the box out and not even touch it till he has a look...he even repeated "do not clean or touch a single thing"

Must be on holiday. He told me he needs the block to clutch fingers measurement and my gear box nose cone. Then he can mod the nose cone and supply a bearing and master cylinder that will work exactly as it should with my clutch. A lot of these kits you buy or random bearings can push the clutch too far or not enough as it wears

Thanks...everyone needs a holiday...they just need to arrange them round my garage disasters! I have sent an email to him anyway..
I have found out a lot on my box today....mainly caused by my error I think, I have made a specific thread here: https://passionford.com/forum/genera...ml#post6611513

One of them things I did read about the spigot bearing. Your not do it twice! Always good practice too test the spigot and clutch plate on the input shaft. Guess how most find that out lol your not be the last to do it

I have a spare cossie flywheel so I am going to mount that on a metal plate bolted to the bell with the clutch and cover all in place so I can see the clutch etc working on the floor before it goes back in the car. You live and learn.
Al, The Transplanter (Yoda) has very kindly come over today and yesterday to check my progress and offer his advice...it is good to have Yoda around to lead me in the right direction.
My repair looks to have held well though so I am confident that I can have it all running properly soon.

I just need to see if Coley can knock up a new spigot bush for me as I destroyed the old one before I had chance to fit it to the input shaft.

My mate smashed the diff on my Caterham launching it...cost me a few quid to solve, then another mate stuck my 911 into 3rd at 120mph and that was £5.5k rebuild.

Thanks Mate...it sounds like you have enough on your hands!
I am just sending off the down pipe and exhaust manifold to be Zircotec treated and working out if the hot side of the Turbo should be done (I know Rod has said it can shorten the life of the Turbo)
I also will speak to Tilton today to see what measurements they need to spec the centre push...I have the lovely mount that You made for the centre push so it should be straight forward.

I spoke to the guy at competition supplies and he was sooooo helpful, he talked me through all the measurements, how they work and what they have done in the past and what to check, I went back with my measurements and what I had come up with, he checked it and agreed it was correct. I got a backing plate which I think will help line it up with the one coley made for me as it uses ford pattern and I bought their pipe kit which includes in car bleed. £365 was not cheap compared to the ford ebay £30 special but with the box out it makes sense.

Interesting info I will keep an eye on these problems and solutions ready for my GTR box install. I have a centre push mondeo going on mine?

Wow, what clutch is that? Good point on the clutch pedal stop. That clutch bearing is nice and flat too. I don't think my ford one is a huge problem but there is a bit of play in it.

I measured the fingers on the clutch and the Tilton guy checked the correct centre push to suit.
Does the AP triple plate incorporate the clutch cover then?
I too would only own a Peugeot 205. I cannot think of any other Pug that I would want. Same for Renault...must be a Clio V6 or R5 Turbo.

The bronze looking bit is the cover, it just has 3 friction plates.
That must be some clutch to hold 600ft/lb on standard fricton plate. I have never seen a standard sized cosy clutch hold that. This is why we use multiplate, rally cosworths make around 550 ft/lb at low revs, a twin plate is normally used, i just happened to have a triple at the time.
The bearing measurements are simply to get the clearance from the bearing to pressure plate correct, with this you can often over press the hydraulic slave into the pressure plate, hence the clutch stop.

I am only reliant on Martin Hadlands word for it but It didn't slip yet. Mine is only 500 ftlb but it is made very low down due to the Efr Turbo. It is certainly much heavier to press than the AP clutch cover I had. I expect the Rally cars are used with much stickier tyres and are used at max chat all the time as opposed to some mechanical sympathy on the road so would shop up any weakness.
We checked that the flat faced tilton would correctly fit the clutch fingers is what I meant. I will check the throw and then make a clutch stop to limit the throw. I have seen them pop if you over extend.
At least if mine slips then I can use the AP like yours, it looks like you have a very light flywheel...what sort is that? Is it a lightened Cossie one?
Thanks for your help...the more info I get the less likely I am to make errors.

what clutch disc, flywheel and pressure plate, arrangements do you guys use on these cosworth / GTR conversions. I am looking at options.

I have Helix uprated clutch cover (the AP doesn't cut it over 400bhp so I have heard) Skyline paddle clutch and standard Cossie 4x4 flywheel (of which there are two types apparently, one lighter than the other and both work.

Is the helix cover plate Cosworth or GTR? Got any info on it where to get it and cost. Just for testing can you use a std Cosworth cover with a skyline disc and mondeo centre push. Then once it all works upgrade time.

My tilton arrived today so will post pics of it in place once mocked up.
I also have the AP and tilton catalogues here and they do a flywheel for the YB ready to accept the twin plate clutch pack from AP or tilton with cover and then buy the tilton to suit. I will look at this too as it may give a lighter clutch pedal. (Look at Markk's) pics above. They show it really well.

Mondeo adapter (to try) and tilton that arrived today from competition supplies
1000 series with flat bearing face. 45.5 mm height. £380 all in delivered
I am hoping this will bolt straight to the mount coley made for me and I will not need the adapter, if it doesn't then the adapter can be adapted

Got home late but couldn't resist trying. I am glad to say that the tilton adapter bolts directly to coleys mounting plate. Even with the 10mm thick adapter the 1000 series is slightly shorter than the mondeo centre push...this is good as the tilton supplier said to allow 5mm space for the clutch cover to move as it wears. The tilton will find its own balance once bled up and it has loads of throw so just need to limit the pedal travel now.

Do I need one of those mondeo adapters, to fit the mondeo centre push to the modified GTR thrust bearing part, the bolt on bit in the bellhousing. If so where/who did you get it from?

Depends how the skyline part is modified. You need to give a perfectly flat base for any centre bush. The pic above by Mark shows the centre push mounted. Tilton do a bearing with 1 inch stands that can be milled down to suit.

to Graham and MK. The Ets pro has all the maps in there for auto control of the torque split...I wonder how you could ever map that in to Emtron. The ETS has a parking map, race, drag strip, street etc...not saying it cant be done but note sure how.
The ETS posted is £471 so $575 for controller $110 shipping and paypay transaction fee of $23.98 = $708.98....I was then hit with about £50 import duty 2 weeks after I signed for it.

So £500 to your door then.
I am not using ETS, what I am using is this www.mapdccd.com
About £350 delivered with import duty. Does everything the ETS does iirc for less money.
MK, there is a lot of work to get your ECU to be remotely close to the mapping in the transmission, I am sure life do have transmission maps though, you need to check what compensations are available.

I have seen others using that on Skylines but don't know any more than that. I expect they are very similar.
