Default Rs1800 resto

Right picked this up yesterday. 80k, completely standard for the grand sum of £650.

Started stripping it today, boot is solid and like new. Under the kit is not bad at all. Sills need abit of work but nothing major. Floor pans the same.

Rear valance needs replacing. As im having it resprayed ill probably renew both wings too.

Starts and runs spot on. Plans are to keep it standard. I may be tempted to lower it slightly and have a decent exhaust but that will be it.

Cool cars these. Cheap as chips too. I will keep an eye on this thread.

RS1800s go for silly money these days.

Ive wanted one since I was about 16. Always had escorts but craved a fez turb for aslong as I can remember but cvh turbos have always put me off with reliability.

The 1800 ticks all the boxes, rare, zetec reliability and easy to work on.

Ive been told theres less then 20 taxed on the road.

Hopefully she'll be in the garage this week and I'll have her back in a few weeks after ive collected some panels and other bits.

Think he means has it been written off by insurance previous to you buying it.
Do a quick hpi on it and will give you peace of mind.

Still needs plenty more welding up. Dropped off yesterday, having rear valence, both rear arches, both inner sills, passeneger out sill and drivers wing. Should be worth it in the end

Been collecting a few bits for when I get her back.

Had a few bargains, picked up the fog lights locally for £23.80
Also got the parcel shelf for £8.

Luckily found the badges on ebay but ended up spending £90 for the lot. Very hard bits to get hold of. Currrently bidding on some more as I think theyre worth keeping. New headlights and ambers next, if anyone has any

Fogs ive seen go for double that as they are easily broken. My old ones are fie just 1 lense is cracked. Not sure what colour the parcel shelf should be the old one had been butchered, got this one from the scrappy. As for the badges, they've been a nightmare to find, so have to pay the price that people want unfortunately

I had an ash black 1 I say bought but stole it from my old boss as a trade car when I worked at bmw. As far as he was concerned it was a piece of shit and got it with heaps of mot and tax for the grand sum of £250 about 10 yrs ago. Spent a couple of hours cleaning it and was a different car underneath all the shit. Sold it to a trader a few days later for £1500 I've had lots of cars like that over the years. Got a fto aswell that was pink instead of red and a very rare manual with a fto plate for a grand and buffed it up and doubled my money. Missed out on a r33 gtr vspec about the same time aswell as I was too slow off the mark when it came in. Boss told me he had sold it to a trader for £2500. Was gutted :-(

Looks like you got a steal with this one and would be a keeper if it was mine. Good luck with it and I will keep an eye for your updates

Excuse the poor pics, pushed for room at the moment. Paint still covered in dust, only managed to get mirrors, fogs and door cards on so far. Need a good day sorting it out really.

Has a starting problem think its the battery but not looked into it yet. Then when its back together it'll have full service, cam belt and probably brakes. Re stud the kit and needs a new heated screen and 4 tyres :/

One question is i have my spare mondeo alloys on atm as original alloys have no tyres. Do you need spacers? Only moved it so far not driven it.

Well had a few days putting it back together, arches all sealed, new brakes and a service, interior back in, kit all ready for new studs etc. Just need to sort the deadlock problem out now!!

More work to do yet, kit back on, new screen to go in, rs2000 mk5 alloys to go on, bumper mouldings, cam belt kit and wp to go on. Then ready for mot and hopefully ford fest!

How she sits at the minute

Remember when I went to Tony's to look at this.

Should of had it for what I was offered it at. But didn't want red. But got a brown rusty one that's scrap instead when I removed kit. Rear bumper and some of the interior. Never seen rust as bad

Looks well now. All painted and shiny

This one was bad tbh. Most would of scrapped but with so few left i wanted to save it. Think it mainly rusted from being stood. Only mods are the speakers, bar that its never been touched
