mk4/3 xr3i turbo
just got my hands on a mintish 2 local owner.67k mile mk4 xr3i for peanuts, when i say mint i mean it is structurally sound, needs 2 minor bits of welding on rear of sills, and paint being red is the usual faded a bit
been sat in a garage for about 6 years, just weighing up my options, should i
1.leave it standard and run about in it
2.leave it standard looking, turbo it and run about in it
3.rip all the panels off it and convert it to a mk3,fit an s1 kit, paint it some fucked up colour(not flippy paint cos it turns my stomach tbh),and efi turbo it
i am kind of drawn to option 3 myself,as i love the look of the mk3 and have all the bits to do this lying around lol, would rival my pearl purple rs 1600i of a few years back, used to love the purists looks of disgust at the shows
will put up some pics when i get it picked up tomorrow, what do you all think of my plans

well picked it up today for the tidy sum of 100 quid ,was going to take some pics but got 1 of the inside of the boot and then my battery was flat .
going for option 2 i think as looking at it it has quite grown on me,maybe change the colour as not a big fan of red and put some rs bits on it but apart from that not going to go too crazy modding wise.
my mate is maybe buying my cabby shell to re shell his rotten turbo so going to take all the good bits off it for the xr

not all rosy though,am going to have to repair the rear of both sills and the bottom 12 inches or so of the front edge of the rear arches, also a small patch near the wiper motor support bracket, will get all this done while i am seam welding it though so no probs, roof around sunroof and the pillars scuttle etc are all mint so a reasonably solid base for a project, especially on a 20 year old car

well for all of you who are avidly following my resto thread
work is starting tomorrow with the welding, will put pics up of progress as it happens, doing this on a budget, but will be done to a high standard with full underbody resto, efi turbo motor, and some nice body mods, not talking big stupid kits and flip paint, but subtle and tasteful is the way to go with older fords

the one in the background is martins old rs,that stays across the road from your folks, seen better days now though, think big billy wants to repair it but dont know if it will ever get done bud,was trying to get him into a deal on my cabby shell but he's wanting to keep the rs

honest its not very fast and is pretty rotten but it as usual for rst's looks clean from the outside,it was a very nice car a few years back when martin first got it,but well past its best now.
i drove it when billy had it on the road,it ducked and dived all over the shop, pulled violently to the left when it came on boost(not torque steer either),the brakes were the worst i have ever used,if it was the only rst i had driven i wouldnt touch one with a bargepole cos it was a total shitter
think he's going to reshell it into my cabby now as it is only really fit for scrap, the shell anyway, billy has bought loads of new bits so think he would be better fitting them on a solid shell tbh, having a cabby wont bother him anyway cos he drives like miss daisy on valium
