That's exactly what i said to my mate when i described the wheels to him in the pub as he hadn't seen them before, i said "they look kind of like 1.9 GTI wheels", and his face was like... "Oh right that sounds nice" PMSL.....

Cheers,
Yeah it arrived the other day thanks alot, i did mean to send you a PM.
Not sure when it will be done, asap, but i go back to work tomorrow and usually work away so depends how much time i get to put it back together, i should get the engine back within a week i hope, but then again that's if I'm here to go and collect it. Stickers are on the wheels dunno if you can see them all that well in the pic.

Aye sounds like a plan, i wish mine was RWD, so much easier putting it all back together...
Not sure when i will get my engine, hopefully the weekend if i get time, which looks unlikely as i'm away to denmark and not back till 3pm on sat. So that takes me into next week and I may be offshore, same old story.... Doh!

A quick update for you........
Gearbox looks like it's been prepped by Julian clairy
Pride of place on the driveway just away to remove hubs
manky hubs
hurt my back last week so can't crawl underneath to take of x-member yet....
Fully rebuilt engine ready to go in, bar bottom pulley....which i hopefully will be getting from lambchop
Check how manky the suspension is

Cheers!
Well with the assistance yet again of a very helpful pf member (rstoughy) I have got things moving along alot more swiftly now. About time too. Anyway here my progress. Got the engine and box all done last night.
Engine on x-member
Without diff
With front diff fitted
Now on to fitting the box (there was a minor incident with that, but i'm not taking the blame, all is well though.... PMSL)
Just hope i can keep this pace going, i really couldn't be arsed with it for ages, but i can't believe how much happier i am I've actually started putting it all back together.
Thanks to all who have helped, in person and on here!

That sounds like a plan!
All i really need to do now is get 1/2 a snapped cross member bolt out of the car (haven't quite decided the best way to do that yet ) and get 1 bracket that holds up the brake pipe, that's about all, bar painting 1 hub. Can't believe how easy it was to get it all back together, i just hope to god it runs!
I'll keep u updated mate, cheers!

Got the bolt out I was on about, just took a grinder into the engine bay and grinded the welds of the nut, which i didn't really want to do incase i fucked it up, but it went well!
Just gotta paint a wee bit tonight where the bolt was and it's as good as new. Only have the drivers side hub to fit to the TCA which will take about ten mins.
After that, i'll bang on the new struts and it's in with the engine.

Good update now!!!!!!!
I can now see the day when it will actually run again, after a whole year in bits!
Just decided yesterday enough was enough so i made up a wee list of things i needed to do to get the engine back in, like bare minimum stuff and fiddly things to do now rather than after it's back in the car.
So at 8:30 am this morning I started doing all that, and by about 11 am i had the engine under the car, at which point my mate showed up, and we proceeded to bolt up the rest.
Me pointing at something???
The mrs putting on the wheels
Washed after a year........looking not bad considering.
