Project DTR
Well as she is near perfect on the exterior i thought i would put up some pics of her progress since 1990
Then i was looking for a new car to replace my 1.1 and H769DTR come up, but it was in Bournmouth so before i went to go and look @ the car i wanted to see some pics of the conditon of it
(Come on Standard Wheels)
Well after seen these pics and some pics of the mint petrol cap and the price of ?700 i thought it rude not to go down and have a look,
So i went down and i ended up buying the car for ?600 as there were a few bits that needed some attention but nothing too major
As car was on drive @ home i had to buy few bits and pieces to the external to make it how i wonted it!
such as new smoked lights rater than the tint sprayed version it had on before!
after that its down to the Bodyshop to get few things sorted!
it started off with just bonnet and bumpers touching up a little
Well then after that we took to bumpers off to find out that the front bumper right hand side was only held on with cable ties and Fibreglass!
and the rear just needed a little bit of a touch up
the front
and bonnet
we decided to make sure the sills were ok as we knew it needed a little patch but then after the nail gun ity looked like this
After rust killing all the front was just waiting on the welding and painting to be complete i took afew more pics,
Fianlly car was finished and it was time for some pics of the completed car
Still not totally happy with the exterior i wonted to get rid of the standard wheels!
so went on the look for some then come up with these!
Then after fitting those i decided car engine was running hot so decided to rasie the bonnet for extra cooling and different look
some pics from ford fair
A few interior shots now, a bit better than the standard Xr interior the Frst complete interior
Last but not least some pics from trax
Hope you have enjoyed reading and looking please feel free to comment on what u like and dislike

Well have had this week off and with a few problems with the car i have know decided to rebuild the engine and do some other parts to give it a new lease of life!
Some of the idea's i have come up with are to keep the orginality of the car! ie no 2ltr Zetec
so i am going to uprate the 1.6 cvh Plans for this are
Port and Polish,
Bigger Valves and triple cut,
4-2-1 Manifold
Uprated Cam,
Vernier Pully
Full S/S exhaust
uprated oil pump
Chip
and for the exterior
Cossie Brakes
Proper mk3.5 colour coded mirrors
4 inch roled out exhaust!
Well here are some pics of the progress so far!
The removed parts
and the Exhaust
any comments please feel free to comment

1st of all i had to get rid of the strut brace which was a fairly simple job, then from there i had ago @ getting the exhaust manifold off!
Well here is a pic
Seems all fine untill i got to the last bolt and then SNAP!

Finally after a few hours this morning preping the engine ready to be taken out!
So this afternoon it began by starting to build the monster engine crane!
this thing was a monster! was sooo many bolts and nuts and lumps of metal! but after reading the totally fcuking usless destructions! we managed to get it looking like a crane!

Next thing to do was to attach the PINK chain! to the lifting eye!
Then a few pulls tugs and swear words later and!
Well with the engine taken out now it is time for it to be stripped and the clean up process to begin!
and the engine been stripped!
Well thats about it for now, best get some sleep ready for tomorrow engine strip!

**UPDATE** 12-3-2006
Right well last few weeks i have been very ill and not been able to work on the car!
But finally i managed to get a few bits and pieces sent to people and i have also managed to strip the bottom end!
The head has gone of to Frankenstein Motorsport for a stage 3 Port and polish Bigger valves, kent cam, and few other special bits
The bottom end was a bit of a shock to strip and to learn all about each part and how it all works and also how it is so important to have reqular oil and service changes!
The sump
in here i found tiny bits of metal :aaah:
Parts of the bottom end
The crank and bearings
also whilst doing the engine i changed over the dials too!
Well hopefully more pics and update soon!
thanks for reading

UPDATE
THE BOTTOM END REBUILD
Well, as the target date passed with no car @ FITP i had a phone call on the monday after to say that my Bottom end parts are ready to be Collected
So i went to collect them brought them back and here is what they look like,
The Crank
The Polished oversized pistons
The Block
So was Really happy with the finished product from them!
So next on the list was to fit the bearings to the bottom end after giving it a good clean out with some carb cleaner and some trusty petrol
also preped up the bores with some MTX-75 Cossie gearbox oil, just to make sure they were clean and looking good for the pistons!
Anyway next was the bearings and the trust washers
After the bearings were all covered in oil and preped up it was time to clean up the crank with some petrol and fit it to the bearings
Then the main bearings were fitted and all torqued up
Next job to do was to fit the Pistons had to cover all the bores in loads and loads of oil and the pistons too
Well with all that complete, i am now waiting on my ARP bolts to arrive then i can fit the pistons to the crank!
Also a other parts had arrived over the past few weeks
also waiting on my Deflex gearbox mounts, Ford Top Engine mount, Ford Oil Pump, and also a spring to make it high pressure
A few more shots of the cleaning progress i have made too!
The Clean Gearbox
and the now clean driver side wing
Well thanks for reading please leave comments as always
Cheers

Excellent work - looking foward to seeing how you get on with the cossie brakes - going to do the same converison during the summer.
Looks like you've got all the right bits to do a proper job, although i have heard alot of bad stories about deflex gearbox mounts - especailly from Heeman.
