Series 1 KAR resto its painted!! at last :-)
Well thought it was about time i started my own post of my series 1 resto,
always wanted to do a series 1 so set out to get one just over a year ago and came up with this one,
so this is how its been since purchasing it and has been spot on throughout,
it was always going to be restored so i bit the bullet (and saved the cash ) to get it completley painted
so it was booked in at centralblast for the works to be carried out, got me date 25/3/06 to be delivered to them as a bare rolling shell, so all hands on deck to get the car stripped,
wasnt looking forward to taking up the carpet seein as some ive seen which have been total gonna's but to be honest was plesently supprised hardly anything
boot floor also good
inside of bulkhead all good
next bit was to strip out engine and bay completely
dave doing his bit, well quiet a lot actually, cheers fella
obviously couldnt get the drive dirty so onto the pavent she came for a mornings work, then back into the garage in bits
doors stripped out
this is the one puss(will) got his hands dirty for then proceeded to stand in the garage eating these, and getting the electric heater working, cheers fella
last few bits me, dave, stu, and will got done the weekend before it went like all clips, screws, brake lines, fuel lines, foam padding, looms etc
little shot from inside sunroof area pretty good
then it was on the trailer and off to centralblast
excuse the lovely steels
right here she is just into bodyshop awaiting a start
ive sourced all genuine panels ready for the resto which was harder than it seems, cant beleive how hard mk3 escort bits are to get hold of its a nightmare,
so along with the car i delivered
2x gen ford front wings
1x gen ford front panel
1x gen ford rear panel
1x gen ford scuttle panel this was the worst of all to find so if you see one nick it
still needing to source a pair rear arch repair panels as rear 1/4s a so good just started to go on the lips sodont really want to replace whole 1/4s
and lastly still on the look out for a genuine front cross member, might not need it yet but just in case better be safe than sorry, so if you know of one please let me know please peeps
im off to see it soon, so ill try and get some updated pics of work in progress

bit of an update, picked car up sat morning dropped it straight off at D.J Developments for fabrication,
dave got a start on it first thing sunday morning and worked right through as you can see its come on a hell of alot starting to look a bit better
got the rotten front scuttle and front panel off, to make way for the new front end
new genuine scuttle in place
new genuine front panel and gen front wings in place
still got loads to do, quiete a bit needs doing on the rear arches as you can see the o/s/r inner needs sorting big time
and a few bits on the floorpans to, the biggest bit being sorted
got to order up couple extra bits tomorrow like sound deadening to go back down on the floorpans etc, hopefully more updates during the week.
