S2 Resto! *Update, its Got a new home*pics
Well this is my resto project, so far had it about 6 months and pretty much just striped it, its a slow project because never got the time to do it and when i have it rains, really must finish building the garage!!
Here it is, mercury grey series 2, orginal panels & glass, bought for £780 of ebay!
Said it needed a new alternator, bit of welding on chassis rail and a front wheel bearing!!
Got a alternator of my mate for nothing, plus it wasn't the wheel bearing it was the disc not siting on the hub, had a bit of metal stuck in between them!!
As for the rails, trying welding a plate on but no luck, metal was paper thin so just kept falling of when i finally got a weld! Here they are:
Drivers side:
Pass side:
So decided to go resto on it, here some pics of the rest on the rot i found:
Drivers side rear floor:
Front panel:
Pass side inner sill
Bumper Mount:
Also rot on drivers side inner sill, pass outer sill, battery tray and the rear qtr panels bottom corners.
Have got pics just need to upload them.
Comments welcome, good and bad!!
Cheers Pez

Pass side outer sill, looks like some twat jacked it up wrong!
Rear pass arch, drivers side arch is fine
Not to bad, lucky for me im pretty dam good with a welder and filler!
Any way started taken the drivers side rail off, pretty easy so far just got stuck wiv the hard to get to spot welds!! Waiting a longer drill bit!
While waitin for my dad to bring home some longer drill bits i took this off:
Really don't why i did, i hate it when i get bored!!

Would be great if you could save it, but by there right on the wing join id put a new panel, its always gonna come back by there. Plus the rust will have creeped under the Seam sealer on the wing.

Had to cut the old one into pieces to get it off in the end!!
his my dad with a fake smile measing up the new one:
Only one problem, when i took the old one off i notice that it seems to has a thicker inner rail, which my new 1 doesn't, does this matter??
His a pic, you can see the inner bit im on about:

circle the bit your on about mate, looks to me like the metal has expanded with the rust, think it was meant to be as thin as the other piece, seen this before.
