the xr3i turned up today the lad that owned it had spent the last 2 years doing bits and pices to it and when it arived it was in primer ready to paint the first thing we done was pull it to bits as we needed the doors and bootlid . its a 130 bhp 3i and most of wats left will be for sale so pm me if you need anything
the boot lid went straight on to be lined up then it was removed by the hinge pins so it wauld be easy to refit
gaz preped the bonet and wings and put a bit of filler on the small dents we found on the doors and thay where all primed as we left work tonight

no but its defo the right colour cause it came off the computer at work that we use for the paint formulations when i was after the codes the other week #13 said yours wasnt the right colours otherwise id have just gone with them but the ones we found on the paint scheem where but thay looked crap and that was the reason for changing it a bit

in which case it's defo the wrong colour! the red and orange will not be listed on a paint formulation listing for any ford. the reason i didn't paint mine in the original Fluorescent paint was because it only lasts a year or so before it fades... take a look at dynorod vans! what colour were you given for the blue?
it does look a good job though

message from terry @ pride n joy regarding repsol colours on my escort
The colours were sourced from akzo nobel/sikkens,and are repsol international colours. The reason the orange looks flourescent on the pics is because it is applied over ral9010 white, which is the correct colour( not ford diamond white which is similar
The red i've used is ford flame red as the repsol red as jacko rightly says was a little too nipple pink for my liking!
Same applied to the blue/black,this was a non mettalic colour and looked a little flat so changed it for ford raven which is very similar in hue with a mettlic effect
hope this clears up any confusion,, especially for you Martin..... p.s ill be contacting you soon regarding a few parts, pedal box etc....

i was not saying the orange looked flourescent, i was saying it SHOULD look flourescent. When i decided to mimic the repsol scheme i called the people who actually painted the cars (a body shop in essex as i remember called something like hopkins) they gave me all the colour codes but warned me that the orange and red colours would fade after a short time, the stripe colour is mondeo cayman blue... not a flat colour. I am very sure that the repsol escorts were not painted in repsols international colours and the fact they used cayman blue for the stripe confirms this. i have detailed close up pictures of many of the original cars from every angle an will try to scan them if i can.
hope this clears things up!!!
