Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys.
Yes mate I do have a few more pics of the turbo install. Below is a pics of the twin 500hp walbro fuel pumps, I made a custom made cradle to replace the stock fuel pump with. It all fits neatly into the original position and while there running they are as quiet as the stock fuel pump.
In the pic below you can see the 44mm Tial External Waste gate.
In the pic below is the Turbo’s down/dump pipe. Its 3.5” in diameter then splits into a twin 2.5” system. We didn’t have enough room to fit a single 3.5” pipe hence went about running the twin 2.5” system in a figure 8 configuration to fit it all in.
In the pic below you can see how we went about the Exh plumbing to the Turbo. We basically continued from where the OEM collectors end. I know this is not the best method for turbo spool up however at the time I had to pass an IM240 Emission test to have the M3 100% street legal with an Engineers report and all and wanted to get the car up and running as quickly as possible. Once the engine is removed to fit the stronger rods/pistons etc we will then look into making a new exh manifold.
The exh system then continues into a twin 2.5” system with twin high flow cats all the way to the rear of the car. With this system the car is barely louder that standard yet is legal and flows well for what it is. I have given a number of people on the street a bit of a fright as you would never pick the car as turbocharged from the outside.
No problem in making an intake manifold for you Mr C. If interested can you please PM me for further details. Thanks.
XR2i-Carl,
Thanks mate, I’m not really a legend mate (Keith Duckworth is), just that I really love my cars and boost as well as sometimes pushing the limits such as in the case of the Mk1 Escort.
Brigsport,
Yes mate, the Escort is still in one piece. Lol. We have a little more power available but can’t really use it all just yet. The owner of the Escort is concentrating more on setting the car up to leave the line straight before we wind some more power into it.
Thanks again for all the interest guys.
