The 363 bhp engine was standard with T34 running 23 psi with a lot of ignition
New engine is 7.38-1 will keep T34 should run at 28psi and hopefully be around 390bhp ??
a few pics of the beam for ya ........

Thanks for the pics Filthy Rich.
I have had my “in car” vid of the 11.8 sec pass edited however for some unknown reason my friend cannot upload the vid onto his site so I can post a link to the vid here and I don’t think photobucket lets you do vids. How would I go about posting the vid on here for people to download ????
Its approx 1.65MB in size.

Stunning car mate and somethink for a lot of YB owners tothink about, cos them sort of times without the lag would be amazing, and better than slightly quicker with the lag, especialy for a road car!

GOT2BZETEC,
Yes, I absolutely love the response the engine has at the expense of a little power loss at the higher rpm's due to the small turbo. In 4th gear it makes 1bar boost by 3300rpm.

The chassis is standard bar the springs that i have already mentioned.
The gearbox is the standard T5 however the internals (Gears) have been shot peened to relieve stress points. Also the shifter has been replaced with a B&M "short throw" shifter
The diff is a genuine Eggenburger diff that i bought of one of the Group A teams here in OZ. It's centre is made of a billet of solid steel and is what was used before the 9" diffs were used. Also the support plate that goes onto the diff is not like the factory "rubber mount" type. It is all cast of one piece and has fittings for a diff cooler etc etc that i am not using.

I went out to a drag meet yesterday to watch the Top Fuel’s race and the best time was a 4.6 @ 331mph. Not only are these things the fastest accelerating piston powered cars but would have to be the LOUDEST cars in the world to. There simply unbelievable
The track temp was 56Deg C and the air temp was in the mid to high 30’s. I will be waiting a while before I go out to race as I would prefer not to have to race in such heat. Will definitely let you guys know how the Saff goes as well as have a friend video it for all to see

Diff sounds abit tasty mate, will be a pretty trick bit of kit coming from the old Grp A Tourer's!
Funnily enough there's a video in my player right now with the ATCC on it, who did you buy it from, might be getting thrashed on my vid!
Remember to post when you got those Hoosier's sorted too!

I bought the diff of Peter Hopwood (un-shore if spelling correct for surname). Peter raced a red Sierra but unfortunately I can not remember the race number of his car. I did not know Peter and only got in contact with him threw a mutual friend. Unfortunately Peter passed on a few years ago due to cancer. RIP
I will definitely let you guys know how the Saff runs once I go to the drag strip. In the mean time I need to figure out how to upload vids. The previous vid was uploaded by a friend on his site and I simply put a link to it. He was unable to upload my “in car” vid of the 11 second pass so I cant put a link to it on here……dam it . Can I email it to any one that can help ????

Hi Guys,
Hopefully this link to the “In Car” vid of the 11.8 second pass will work
http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/upl...%20Footage.zip
As mater of interest the shift lights are set up so the first green LED turns on at 5000rpm, the second green LED turns on at 5,500rpm, the amber LED turns on at 6,000rpm and the red LED at 6,500rpm (shift point). In fourth gear I simply turn the engine to 7,100rpm (I set rev limit to 7,300) rather than shift into 5th gear as my times were faster this way. I looked at the data logs from the Autronic and I split the rpm into sections and it seems like it only takes 0.1 of a second more for the engine to rev from 6,500 to 7,000 than 6,000 to 6,500 and I know I can’t do a 4th to 5th gear change in 0.1 second.
The green LED in the centre dash section is connected to the ERL water injection. This green LED turns on when the water injection is active. I have set the Autronic to activate the water injection once the engine is over 3,500 rpm AND 12psi boost. If the rpm's are over 3,500 and the boost is below 12psi the water injection does not activate.
I cant wait for the weather to cool of a bit and hope that the Hossiers street slicks (225/50/15) will have enough grip so I wont have to back of then back on the throttle in first gear like in the vid

Thanks for the comments. Sorry for not having posted more pics earlier .
In fact I just realised I don’t have too many pics of my own car .
I will have to take more and post them. At least I have this one to add for now.

Hi Guys,
Thanks to all the people that have sent me PM’s complementing my Intake and Exhaust manifolds
Just to confirm, Yes the manifolds can be manufactured and shipped world wide (shipping costs payed by you).
Here are a couple of pics of a pair of Int manifolds completed just yesterday. They are on there way to there new owners (you know who you are )

Jake, mate check your email.
Unfortunalty if you run in the 12 second 1/4 mile times in australia you have to have a weld in cage etc and have to pay a fee to a motorsport association.
The last time I spoke to Jake he wanted to keep it a street car but its up to him to post full details.

Thanks again for all the compliments guys
Apologies for my late response, I haven’t been too well of late
don-cossie,
The basic mods to my YB are,
Ported head, Isky double valve springs, custom made Int and Exh valves with larger Dia heads and reduced Dia stems, custom spec Int and Exh cams, custom Int and Exh manifolds, T28/40 Ball Bearing Turbo (25psi), -31 Actuator, prepared OEM crank/rods, Cosworth Racing rod bolts, ARP head studs and Mains studs, Mountune 4 layer head gasket, 7.6 comp, Autronic SMC with R500 CDI running threw 4 separate MSD coils, ERL S1 water injection, AirTech Bar and Plate cooler, Bosch motorsport fuel injectors and 044 fuel pump.
No doubt there are a few non significant things that I may have forgot to add but this is the majority of the spec. I believe it is a matter of matching all the parts together to yield a good result. For instance; it would be silly to fit a pair of cams that are designed to make power from 5000-8000 to a stock engine with a stock turbo!
I believe a “stage 3” kit should well and truly run much quicker than a 15 second pass, id say this would be a good step if you’re after an increase in performance if you have a mild cossie. No doubt a larger Exh system with an RS500 spec ‘cooler will also compliment the stage 3 kit and a Group A (YBO611) head gasket would be required to help prevent the added boost giving you grief.
James,
Received email, have replied.
If I’m not mistaken the ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association) have an 11.99seconds limit set before you need to become a member of there association and a 10.99second limit before they really hit you with the welded in cage etc etc. As you said my intention is to leave the Saff 100% STREET and I will race to run the best times I can till they don’t allow me to race anymore.
Realistically my intention is to take the Saff out on a pair of “street slicks” to see what I can run on the T28 turbo. Regardless of the time I don’t think I will upset the engine combo by trying to extract any more peak power at the expense of drivability or added lag.
I will defiantly let you guys know the results once I race. Admittedly I am waiting for the weather to cool down a bit more, id say June-July would be ideal.

Hi Guys,
I finally had the chance to take the Saff down the 1/4 mile again last night. I had a pair of Hossier 225/50/15 street slicks fitted however they didn’t provide the grip I had hoped for. There a good tire but no doubt I have reached the limit of the standard rear end geometry of the car as far as drag racing is concerned.
I have some in car footage as well as footage from outside that I will eventually post. The Saff managed a wheel spinning 1.792 60ft and stopped the clock with an 11.36 @ 125mph still on the T28 turbo.
Does anyone have info on converting the rear end of a 2wd Saff to either a 4 or 6 link setup? Pics would be great. I have no idea when it comes to suspension.

1.7 60ft and your complaining of lack of grip!
In the UK Cossie scene someone would get a 2.2sec 60ft and then go for more power to try and get a faster time, lol.
Nobody seems to understand traction and suspension/tyres here!
DannyB is deffo the guy to speak to tho, hes someone who knows
I get the impression from some people that they are suprised the standard suspension can do these times and some coilovers and buses and the usual UK crap will help.
Well that would make it worse! At standardish height the suspension geometry isnt too bad, its just when everyone decks their cossies on coilovers it totally fucks the camber and toe and suddenly has no grip.
Also this cars got a decent diff, as the stock cossie LSD is a total waste of space with regard to grip.
AWESOME car, best Saff on this forum IMO
