Default The RS3 on dyno! ±± Update, Santa Pod 17th Sept.±±

Hi fellas,

So I've not lost love for old Fords its just this RS is rapid so its put Fords on hold me for now.

Bare in mind standard figures show 362BHP and 343 torque and all I've done is added decats. Sits at 6k now

I really like these and I have heard rumours of an RS1...I really like the idea of a midly tuned one of those.

Good figures , now take it to MRC tuning for a stage 2 and you will see 450bhp with ease .

Cheers fellas.

Don't want a map just yet as I've got warranty still but i am looking into them still. Not a lot can keep up with it as is but more power is always better!!

RS1 will be rapid if they release one, 290 odd in a little A1 should be good but IMO its too small for a everyday car.

Won't having decats affect the warranty though?

With decats i can just put my cats back on and Audi will never know anyway. With a map it will flag up even if you map has been removed. Harris, do you mean MRC are Audi safe so to speak, like Ford have done with mountune?

The sound of the 5 pot in these really does make me think of the rally car back in the day!

So it's running just over 400bhp with just a decat exhaust? Doesn't it need a map tweak to make most of the exhaust upgrade or do these somehow adjust themselves?

The ECU always learns thats why these tuning boxes are not the best as the ECU will learn something is not right and go back to standard form.

These engines seem to be getting around 390BHP standard as the rolling road day we had 390BHP was the lowest and from other sources I've heard 380 to be the lowest anywhere. Not sure why mine has over 400 to be fair but when i spoke to everyone they all have run theses in (500-1000miles) where I've booted it from day one and it seems to have paid off.

Would like to go for an forge intercooler and high flow air intake. Hear i can get around 450BHP before i need a better turbo.

Love these cars, much prefer them to the Merc. A45 AMG which they often get compared to.

I went to look at the CLA AMG before the RS3 and the sales guy was a ass to me (not wanting me to order a new one but having one in stock) plus the dash looks like someone has gone to halfards and stuck a screen on the dash. Also its not the 5 pot I've got now! That was a big thing for me.

If the sales guy would let me pick the car and have it built i don't think i would of looked at the RS3 buy VERY glad i did. Didn't even know about RS3 till i went to Audi and thought this is way better then the merc!

Not really sure what is a good time on 60ft all the way up to 1/4 mile? Since my 1/8 was a little better than my second run but yet a better 1/4 mile speed? Could you shed some light on this?

Yeah it has launch control, you should be able to hear it screaming it nuts off before i go.

60ft isn't really about power, more about the cars ability to launch.

What backs this up is that your terminal speed is quite low in comparison to the time you are getting down the strip. You would expect a FWD car to pull the same terminal speed going a second slower.

This is not a bad thing at all, your car is getting max potential out of the power is has in comparison to grip/launch/shift times.

Terminal speed is just a measure of power to weight really, i.e you could have a poo launch and time, but still get the same (or slightly better by say 1/2mph) terminal speed.

Ah i see, makes more sense now.

Nobody ever tells you these things when you go just that if you get 10's your fast...

Saw some highly modded stripped out subarus there running 13's and wondered how many mods we all had Couldn't believe we all had stock!

Your car will always have perfect traction - it is so advanced

The Subaru's will not, plus imagine if their gear shifts take 0.3 secs longer, that is 0.9 or 1.2 secs you have in the bank right away.

I doubt there is a car out there that can do a 12.1 with a lower terminal speed than you

Just for comparison, my mates Nova back in the day was doing 122mph to hit a 12.1.

Usually it is as a yardstick (for FWD)

Low 13 - 110
Low 12 - 120
Low 11 - 130
Low 10 - 140
9.5 - 150
9 - 160

Or if you are the daddy, 7.8 - 200mph

Makes me happy thinking that!

Guess it is true about being advanced, its like when people use to ask about a cossie vs a new scoobie. Better tech, better times.

The Nova has now evolved to a Corsa and it's best terminal is 142 - but it is in bits looking for more power

Here is the FWD daddy

And for comparison the quickest at FWD Pod, actually running a DSG box

Your rs3 is very quick, problem with Subarus is they bog down on launch unless it's a rev limiter ping on the clutch. They are too laggy so 4000rpm launch control does nothing as they'll bog down soon as the clutch is out. And they have mega short gear ratios which mean you have to be shit hot at changing fast as you'll be in 5th by the end of the 1/4.

This guy got it spot on and is running 340-350bhp max due to the vf35 turbo

Cosworths launch better for some reason

Out of interest, my dads WR1 is quoted at 340bhp (no idea how accurate that is, its been remapped, has a de cat and cat back), what sort of time would you reckon it would do, prodrive say a standard one (316bhp) will do a 12.8 but never seen one manage it.

The one in the video I posted is a version 8 narrow track sti which is what the wr1 is based on, your dads would be similar power and should see similar results but you have to abuse the shit out them unlike the Audi rs3 that seems to do it effortlessly

Cool, thanks, don't think my dad would be willing to launch it that hard to get that sort of time out of it.

Impressive really. Mad how much people used to spend back in the day to achieve times like that and now a hot hatch will do it with ease.

Yeah, hot hatch is a bit of an understatement for these types of car really!

Golf is currently being repaired. Hit an abandoned tyre on the A12 a few weeks ago so it's having the front end resprayed and it damaged the ACC sensor. Should be back this week.

Good otherwise though. Had a little play with a Cayman GT4 and it was surprisingly close. Also had a play with a friend of a friend's Astra VXR which he has sunk untold sums of money into and it couldn't pull away from the Golf

Ouch! Being so new as well!

Im surprised it couldn't pull away as the VXR's do pull hard when tuned! If its anything like my brothers VXR then there is something wrong with it!

I never get to play with anything on the road, to be fair not a lot can keep up unless its a bike. I did have a RS6 follow me the other day but it was closing the gap! That thing was really fast!! Sounded like no other! Bliss.
