Collecting my car today, back in a ford after being drained by a subaru
After about 1 1/2 years away from fords and rs's I have went back in time and bought an early 83 rs1600i in graphite Grey.
Really original car with no welding, original stereo,d4 tyres on original wheels, fully restored a few years ago,low miles and heaps of history.
Really excited to be getting it and fell lucky too as it didn't take much searching and is not too far away for me to collect.
Looking forward to getting to shows this summer with it.

Thanks everybody, just got home and got it unloaded, drove it round the block and I can already foresee it needs some new bushes on the back, the teaching done and possibly a steering rack plus some other niggles sorted but my friend has a breaker 16i I can get what I need off of so it's no great hassle.
Maxest,I think I looked at your graphite grey shell with a friend a few years back,I had just bought a mk1 Orion that day and was heading back north.loved the colour since then.
Previous owner has done all the hard work, just needs a few little jobs doing and a set of standard wheels, keeping the d4's on the original wheels as they are nice to have.

Did I see this on the back of a car transporter on the M8 Glasgow yesterday morning ?
Looked like a very nice example. They are really nice in Grey.

Would have been 2009,England had just had its worst snow for years and me and a friend flew down to Southampton iirc and bought a mk1 Orion then over to Hastings I think to collect 18" mos for my saph cos.
My pal was interested in your car so we stopped in on the way up the road.
That was an epic road trip that day.he still has never bought a 16i,came close by buying a mk3 non sunroof ghia 3 door but I ended up buying it when he lost interest.
I'll keep it in mind if I think of selling.
Going out tonight to strip the suspension to check the bushes and steering rack, did a couple of jobs last night, fitted a new bonnet stay clip and rubber, also fitted the correct bonnet catch bolts.got a few bolts to change but it's very original, even has the original stereo, small ford emblem mudflaps, interior.last owner went to great lengths to ensure it had all the correct parts for its model code.
