Its been a while as it seems you cannot talk about the GTs in certain areas of the internet

Any how, the car has done pretty much nothing in the last 4 months or so. It passed the MOT in September with flying colours which I expected, since then she has covered around 40 miles.

The battery keeps going flat which is annoying, I have taken it off and back to the Bosch service center but as it just passed the test they sent me back with it. I will be taking this back soon as its getting worse and still has 2 years warranty remaining.

I have not had much time for the car and to be honest, with the poor driving on the roads these days, I am happy for it to sit out of harms way (Someone hit my daily driver and then claimed it was not their fault! Which it was

A couple photos to prove it is still alive and kicking (and looking good)

Got a week off work so decided to get the old girl fired up. Forget how good the old girl drives.

Local car cleaning people gave it a clean for me. Wash mitts, easy on the pressure washer. They do a nice job. I must admit, it wasn't exactly dirty.

So its been a while since I had the car out to use, I have mainly been using my daily 330ci and diesels.

What I have noticed with the Evo is just how good that engine is, it pulls from 1000 RPM with more than enough grunt and gets stronger and stronger throughout the rev range. It never seems to be in the wrong gear for overtakes and 6th on the motorway pulls really well from 70 MPH. These cars really do have a turn of pace when they need it and in my eyes, you do not have to try that hard for it either, just a gentle squeeze of the right foot and it takes off. I have had plenty of powerful turbo cars and some not so powerful, I have driven powerful diesels and mapped diesels but nothing compares to having instant response when pressing the accelerator pedal instead of lag.

What I think is a great shame is how everything is now going to Turbos. Not just the //M range but everything in general.

A well engineered big NA engine is a work of art in my eyes and perfect for people who like to have full control of the power delivery.

Anyhow, back to the car, I have ordered a few bits from BMW. The plastic cover that goes over the wiper motors etc as mine is looking old now and the rear light unit seals as they are looking aged. Fingers crossed they arrive before the weekend so I can get them fitted.

I am also in the process of getting her in for a inspection 2, just not sure who with yet.

When washing the car I was noticing a bit of damp getting into the boot of the car, I checked all the boot seals and they all looked good, however the rear light seals looked in poor condition

I am also in the process of getting the engine bay up to scratch, only two things need doing now, one is the engine cover which needs painting, I need advice on the correct paint for this please if anyone knows?

And

The plastic cover which goes over the windscreen wiper motors

This is mine before

The amount of crap under this cover surprised me

It's been a long time since I updated these, I have been working on the car and taking photos as I went a long but lost interest in updating these. So I will go through and try to put all the information up since my last update.

So first things first, I had to change my garage. I ended up realy lucky with this as the new garage is right next door to my house, its huge and has a pit. It was however full of crap so moved it all about and got the car in

The windscreen has been replaced with a green sunstrip due to chips

While cleaning I noticed a scratch on the bonnet whih was annoying, so a friend helped me polish this back and remove

This then ended in me machine polishing the car. I spent weeks doing this on and off. Not perfect but certainly 80% improvement

Next up was the expensive part.

The car was nearly due a service and it was the Inspection 2. I had a few other bits I wanted sorting at the same time to booked her in to my local BMW Specialist. This guy is known locally and is very very good.

So dropped the car off

And then got the bill a week later.

List of work I had completed

Inspection 2
Valve Clearance checked and adjusted
New BMW thermostat
New seals/gaskets and bolts on the vanos including new filter etc

Ready to collect

While the car was there, he was bored waiting for someone on Saturday and decided to re-gass the aircon and investigate why that was not working and then removed the door car and freed up the window motor so that now works all free of charge.

I have taken it for a couple runs recently and given her the beans, picks up and pulls really well and no more oil leaks from the vanos.

I am sure there was more but I do not have that much time anymore to update these so will do it in one big hit every now and then.

Thanks

Yeah it is estoril blue, lovely colour. I had a Evo convertible with black leather in the colour, looked stunnin.

Thanks for the comments guys, they are really good cars. A bit old school in how they drive, gearbox is notchy, clutch heavy and you have to give the brakes a good shove but for an old car, they still go really well and no driver aids so you can actually drive it rather than a computer. They also look awesome on the road (Photos dont do them justice)

Prices are on the up so if you want one be quick.

As for the engines, change the rod olts for ARP items and new shells and they will go on for ever. Thye love to be reved

I'm Into all sorts not just fords. Even into pre war flat tanker motorbikes and steam engines. I've had quite a few e36 now but never an m3 but they've just got on forever and there one of the only cars I've sold after I finished rather than it running Into the ground and having to scrap it lol

Hi all,

I am currently thinking of selling the above car. It has completed under 1000 miles in nearly 2 years and just sits in my garage under a BMW car cover within a carcoon.

It is not perfect but that said is a really nice car and a great investment.

I will not sell for anything under £20,000. Anything less and it sits in the garage. The car owes me nothing.

If you are a genuine buyer and want this car, please get in contact with me through personal message on this site please.

Thanks for reading.

Had a look around 2 of these at Walkers Auotech in wisborough green, West Sussex. He was out and they were not priced up nor on his site so maybe just investments but they looked fantastic, lovely seats in these cars.

Good luck with the sale, would like at add one of these to my fleet but over spent lately and need more space.
