why not join a rifle club and get your liscense to fire 22 caliber rifles? (not air rifles) they are alot more fun and fairly cheap, dont have all the messing about like you do with an air rifle either

I'd like to stick with an air gun as I'll be using it for pest control as well as a bit of fun/targets. Much easier to clean too and no carbon build up.

i got a 10shot daystate air ranger .22. looks the same as the air wolf above but without the digital readout. still has a guage on the tank though. charging is a doddle. dont get a styrup pump unless you weigh 50stone! good for 500 pellets on one charge. came with a carbon silencer and wicked adjustable scope with charging cylinder for 850rubs which was quite a deal at the time. once set up its pinpoint accurate and reliable. the loading mechanism was a little stiff as new but scrubbed all the working parts with a pencil and its pukka now. i love it, it feels like the type a gun youd pick things off with from miles away. can be adjusted to do 60ftlb (12std) youtube them.
when i got it i was almost flipping a coin over this one and a HW100. theyre very well made and easy to use and although mines pretty damn quiet after modding my silencer i think the hw100 is even quieter. but it only does about 70 or 75 rounds between charging.

id recommend a airarms s410 fac. At 50 yards leaning on a rest you could put a 5p on the group of shots. At 50 yards it goes clean through the rabbits head. I wouldnt shoot anything much futher away thats not what their designed for and you have to allow for a lot of drop. Mines a .22 and i think its perfect, ive heard wind affects .177 more.
Used to have a spring powered bsa supersport and compared to the air arms its only a toy.

Question, and genuinely this isn't a dig... Whats the point in an air rifle? what do you guys use them for?
I've got a couple in the loft and my grandad has a cupboard full I believe pre charged (he uses a scooba bottle) and normal....
Always like them to look at, and very occasionally shoot, but just didn't know what to do next....
Rob,

So its still in the box Till i go postal
The scorpion kicks like fuck for a 22
Will drag them out for some pics tomorrow

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
More and more of my friends are leaving their 17's and 22's at home and taking air rifles, some of them are true works of art, almost to good to get wet and muddy....

aside from air guns i got an old ebor side by side which kicks like a mule, and a winchester 3shot auto which i love cos you can track really quick with it. got a carbon fibre crossbow thats goes through the shed and out the other side. but the rifles are my fave. daystate air ranger 22, gamo real tree hunter 22 with my own sicko silencer, both with adjustable scopes. ... and a std walther cp88 177 pistol while a weirauch hw45 in 22 with camo ergonomic grip was a great buy.

Can any of you recommend a good beginners rifle?
I'm out in the sticks and know the farmer that owns the field behind me. I'd like to have a pop at some pigeons and other vermin

I'm just about to get my Feinwerkbau Sport MkII springer back from being repaired (you have to be a child of the 80s to remember those ).
The seal went and mine was one of the original "Venom Tuned" (for accuracy and consistency) guns from back in the early 80s. I managed to track down the son of the original Venom team (Steve Pope) and they're still doing the spring kits for these under the V-mach name. Steve recommended a guy in Thorney (near Peterborough) to carry out the work and the FWBs have such good factory tolerances that when he first test fired it, it came out at a consistent 14.5lb ft (the legal limit is 12). Sadly, due to not having an FAC, he had to trim the spring to give it a consistent 11.8 lb ft .
I have a Tasco 3-9 x 50 (I originally used to go lamping with it) and Matchless one piece mount .
When I get it back I plan to join the local field target shooting club in Taverham, as I haven't used it for years and fancy re-living my yoof . I seem to have developed into a bit of nature lover in my old age, so killing stuff no-longer appeals.
Not mine, but a picture I found on t'internet:
I've also been talked into looking at a Air Arms S410 carbine PC, due to the accuracy of these types of gun, but haven't ever fired one before .

I have a BSA Ultra single shot, which I've had modified to have a Regulator and Bolt Action conversion. It's pellet on pellet at 50 yards with no issue.
Only problem is when I fire a shit shot, I know it's me and not the gun.. That was a horrible learning curve

It's amazing, but unfortunately there appears to be a 3 month lead time at present (although Uttings are showing stock of the one you want). I tried several different PCPs in the gunshop before buying this and the way the mag cycles on the HW100 is just in another league. I was all set to buy the BSA R10 MkII (as the stock is better than many four figure guns and it just looked beautiful), but then on a whim, tried the HW100 and just had to have it. You can't double load and it is so quiet with the silencer on, that the loudest thing when firing is the hammer .
I've just bought a custom thumb-hole stock for it that just arrived and hour ago :
