Default TT 2.9 Sierra. This may be the last one?

Nearing completion. Some parts are now hard to find!
Accralite pistons, balanced assembly, T21 profile cam, large nimonic exhaust valves, ported and chambered head. T2 turbos to start with, but much more potential if required. Emerald management.

Hence the deduction of pipe work and filters on the turbos rather than the afms

What power do you think it will be kicking out?

Not big power to start with, the man just wants to get out there with it!
Say 250 bhp to begin with.
We've now fitted twin fans..

What sort of cr are you looking at? I think mine ran 8.1 or 8.6 or something like that which isn't a huge drop from their normal set up

I had chambered heads too and they had the steps rounded out and looked nice not that you could see them lol

8.0
Turbo Technics had a cnc set up to sort the heads out for their standard 225 kits, which enabled them to run with the stock pistons.
The engine in this one is more like the Minker spec.

that looks different i like it, they are tiny turbos for such a big engine but as you say more potential for when the time comes

they are only blowing for 1.4 litres a side so if you go too big you lose the response, and that's what it's all about

Only a couple.

Setting up..

Brakes. These work well, but be prepared for aggravation. Hi Spec do not listen to a word you say. We got there after six months of farting about.
All fine if you are in no hurry at all.

Love this car proper sleep, imagine it's a lot quicker than 3.9 now with the power it currently has!

I am picking up a 2.9 twin turbo engine this weekend that was fitted to a Granada, for my sierra project car. Any ideas on which version it would be? My last twin turbo made 253 bhp, but didn't come with the build plate.
Also, how come the car above is running a dizzy, and not wasted spark?

Looking dated now, but cutting edge in its day!

And the 4x4 Minker engined one, 420 bhp / 475 lbs ft at 3500 rpm.
Sorry for lousy pictures!

Suspension with compression struts, coil overs and bladed anti roll bar.

Budget! His, not mine..
We're going to go back to it later, if he chooses.

Re your TT engine, most likely the 225 bhp version. T2's. Chambered heads. Extra injectors run by a MAP based DCU which also controls the ignition retard.

If anyone's interested I'll pass the details on for the owner, but this TT Minker 323 is for sale. It has all the genuine parts, including the special 170 mph diffs. The guy has had this one in a lock up for years.

I'll struggle to find any now I think, I lost a whole stack in a PC wipe out.
Basically, it's a black Sierra!
TT only produced 8 of them, I think one white one, the rest all Black.
We built one in Moonstone using all Minker parts.
The first ones were much photographed when first produced as a genuine 170 mph family saloon was quite something in 1989!

Long gone now, I've no idea where the XR4i went, although I believe the 4x4 is still owned by the family who bought it from me. I described it to them over the 'phone, and when they came to look they couldn't believe that it was actually better than I said it was!
I built it from a brand new shell, welded in cage, and every last nut and bolt in it was new, running up a considerable account with Cofast in the process.

i think i know who it is

you built up mine before i "tweaked" it

it's an unbelievable motor and, other than it being very very thirsty and a bit heavy at the front, it really is a very surprising package and leaves a lot of open mouths

that does look like a fun car sensible, yet useable power in a car which doesnt actually weigh alot for its size and compared to modern cars!

Yep, they are dinosaurs now, what with the cost of fuel!
The sheer grunt was the best bit, just poke it in top gear, and watch the gap open up.

I found some more pictures of the 4x4 .. I think from 1997.

Shell arrives, it was a failed rally car project bought from a Motoring News ad.

And as finished. Note the big red starter button, now copied by Aston Martin!
