Saw this old banger yesterday morning... Didn't get a pic as its next to a very busy main road. I'm not 100% sure its a 4WD model a I couldn't get a clear view of the plate but looked like an F plate. But its got a 4WD bonnet and alloys.

The rear arches are rotten, the inner arch trim is hanging down, and the exhaust has collapsed, with the backbox on the ground.

It must have been put there in the last 2-3 months as its never been there since I last walked past there.

So it was quite this morning so grabbed a sly picture.

Why do they leave them neglected so long? life circumstances or just didn't get around to it yet. Maybe the owner thinks I'll leave it there until they increase in value for another few years. The problem with that is it will probably just be a pile of parts at that stage and from your findings it looks like it's going that way fast.

I wouldn't mind the alloys myself they'd look good in my garage, or if i put them on my FRST. I wonder if its to do with the business as you can see the company name in the background.

Its not for sale Mark... the guy who owns it thinks its worth a fortune.
In short its a shed 2wd with a fooked engine. I have seen better cars broken for spares.

Plus having an itch to mess around with them. RS2000 front brakes(260mm from standard 240mm) braided hoses seized rear n/s wheel cylinder bleed nipple, had new rear and front poly ARB bushes as factory fit ones were perished.

I wanted standard alloys for shows and to keep it looking standard, but RS2000 to drive it... but the standard wheels wouldnt clear the brakes.

Hi Furry, whats the story with your mates car then? Is he going to strip it for spares or is he going to rebuild it? Seems a shame to let it go like that.

Having finally finished the wife's mini last year - it is now back to getting my car done! It may have taken time... but it was NEVER abandoned!!!

It will get finished as I plan to do the odd night road rally in it - I just promised the wife that her car would get done first! Working outside with our wonderfully sunny weather does slow things down.

That s2 with the cossy kit has been gone a couple of years now. Used to go that was home from work and had a look but it was well fooked like. Actually saw it on a trailer when whoever bought it picked it up. Guy had a mk6 Rs2000 aswell but that seems to have gone now as I've been past a few times this year but nowhere to be seen unfortunately

I'd love a good version of that red estate...looks fully loaded with front headlight wipers etc.

I wonder it the Sapphire is worth more now that it was the day they parked it? With interest rates at virtually zero, hiding cars away might be a good investment.

Went to see this today a very early Sierra XR4X4, I've known about it for about 8 years but it was in bushes so couldn't really see it, but it's recently being moved so I got a better look, I made an offer as it has a few decent spares on it but the owner wants too much so it will just sit there till its crushed no doubt

I bought that car and broke it.
The wishbone ripped part of the chassis leg off getting it off the driveway and the crossmember fell to bits on the other side so moving it was a challenge.
It was a complete p.o.s and a ringer too,was a bonus shell at best.
Good breaker though and a lot of good parts, guy left it too long.
Think everybody on the north east coast knocked about this car,I got lucky 1 night when the light was on in the house for the first time ever.

Well this will be interesting. I have been given the chance to buy these at scrap value. After nearly 4 years after I first offered to buy them the owner of the land now wants them gone. Don't suppose there will be anything left worth having now so will probably go straight to scrap yard. Shame really but I will go and see if there is anything worth saving.

Mk1 bits that share with the Cosworth have attracted interest in recent years.

As has xr4i bits as people have started returning them to oe spec for investment purposes

Mk2 XR4x4 running gear always worth money.. spoilers bumpers etc too all hard to get nowadays.

There is definitely a few k to be made in breaking those three

Been to see these again today. To be fair they don't look much worse than last time. Had a good look at them and found something interesting in one of them. Now to agree a price and take them from there. If I can sort this out all will be revealed.
