Derv tuning
I just joined as I'm interested in if anyone knows what the options are for tuning an Ford Escort 1.8TDi. Mines already been mechanically tuned to gain 110bhp but I was wondering what more can I do and roughly what sort of price they will cost?
Larger turbo? Larger intercooler/charge air cooler? propane/nos?

Where ya from fella? I was going to immediately suggest contacting Van Aaken as they are the daddys at diesel tuning, but see you've got their name in your siggy pic?
IF you ARE from near van aaken you should be at our monthly Berkshire PF meet
As for tuning, a better turbo [new hybrid], a better intercooler and a DECENT remap should cost the best part of £800-£1000, but for what benefit? In my opinion you'd be getting to the point where the fuel consumption isn't far off a mildly tuned petrol engine, defeating the purpose of having a diesel anyway [unless you tow?] so why not get yourself an RST as a toy - which you can pick up for the same price
P.S you can't run a diesel on Nos, cooking oil maybe

see here http://www.percybigun.co.uk/mondeo2/tuning.htm and theres a fast ford mag tuning guide they did about my car which was based on that tuning guide (i got scans available if you want).
plenty of people are running nitrous on diesels, with great effect.
i have a 1.8TD running high boost and with alot of other power mods and its hardly effected MPG unless i floor it ALL the time. for general running about its no different on fuel. i got told all the same advice as above when i started modding mine, then tried it out myself and proved them wrong lol
