Escort van fuel consumption
I have a NA 1.8 escort diesel van, it's slow as sh1t, and only gives me 35 mpg. What do you get out of yours? What do you get with these with a zetec fitted? May go that route if fuel usuage is comparable.

fuel usage between the 1.8tdi and 1.8 115 zetec cost about the same to do 100 miles due to the fuel cost differences but id certainly favour a tdi over a zetec due to the amount of work invloved for the changeover.

I was getting 45mpg out of my mk4 escort thrashed all day long, was slow as hell too.
I upped the pump pressure, did an indicated 112 mph,(on the german autobahn of course), and mpg went to 55mpg as it was a lot more torquey, I had the lucas/cav pump so was easy to do.
Wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter in the mean time though, then use some millers diesel system cleaner, it's brilliant, as is BIO diesel for cleaning all the system.
