MK4 escort popular plus + RS turbo clocks
I am considering doing this mod to my base model, but am concerned about a few things.
Will the rev counter read accurately? I remember reading somewhere, i think possibly on here, that it will possibly over-read? (It's a 1.3 Crossflow).
Also, will all my other lights work as usual? E.g. what about my handbrake light? I assume the RS turbo clocks wont have a choke light but what about the indicators, as aren't the ones on the RS dash sided?
I have had my MK4 escort for years but spent most of that time toying with my Capri's! (one is now gone )
Thanks very much for your help.
Ps: I get the feeling this is in the wrong room! I apologise if it is, please move it accordingly.
Cheers.

hi there, i have the same car, same engine with the rs clocks, they were in the car when i bought it and everything works fine except the rev counter isnt wired up, do you know which wire i tap into to get a reading?
also my choke is wired up to the battery light!? not sure why lol

There are a few subtle differences to the positions of the wires often in the multiplug on the rear of the clocks.
The best bet is to chop off the plug from the rst as well, so you can move the wire positions around on your plug to match the new clocks, on some you may need to add the tacho wire, but I'd be 99% sure it would be there on a mk4 escort.
The other way of making it work is to look at the tracks on the circuit board on the rear of your existing clocks, noting the plug position and where the wires/colours go to ie main beam, indicator etc etc, then follow the tracks on the new clocks to make the same function wise.
The rst uses a std coil as does the x flow so the tacho will read exactly the same, as it uses the same type of ignition with the same amount of pulses.
