Default 1995 Auto Mondeo gearbox concerns

Car is a 95 Mondeo, Auto, Ghia, 2.0 Zetec with 62,000 on the clock. Hello, i bought this 95 Mondeo back in September 09, and i have never owned a Mondeo before so i dont know much about thier 'habits'. My Automatic gearbox is my concern... Firstly, what happens is i start the car from cold, and put it into D, as the car pulls off and changes into 2nd gear theres a pronounced 'bump' or 'lunge' as it changes gear... no noise, just a sort of lunge, its not overly violent but its very noticable and ive never had it in 15 years of driving any other Automatic, and ive had a few. Secondly, if im accelerating quite abit IE not slowly then as the Automatic gearbox goes to change from 2nd into 3rd theres a very slight revving noise which lasts only a blink of an eye but it can be heard, the gear changes perfectly, no lunging... but a distinct revving just as it changes, i dont hear this in any otehr gear changes. Have i got any concerns or is this normal on these cars? is there anything i should check? Thankyou in advance.

I would change the fluid first, if you have no prior history this has been done, needs doing ideally every 3 years.
If towing with it ?, it is in desperate need of a oil/air cooler, tbh they would last longer with one on even if not towing, I've had loads of auto's, gf is disabled so need auto for her, it's made a massive difference to my foot not getting cooked in my sierra auto on a long trip!!
There is a bit of a small lump between 1/2 gears especially when cold, it sounds like the revving issue could be a pressure problem, but hopefully yours has had all the mods done to the early ones to fix problems, most common of which was the clutch basket breaking up, the lump however could be caused by the sensor on the end of the gearbox, visible when looking underneath the front near side wheel arch, a two wire connector goes onto it.
This senses the turbine speed of the box, and they often go duff, easy to do in theory, in practice the sensor breaks off leaving half in the gearbox, they can be a royal b***h to do, my advice take the car to a auto specialist for them to drive, as it is much more accurate than chasing problems via someones description, this would be best, and let them do the sensor if needed, there are many many other things it could be, but all in all not a bad box as auto's go.

Thankyou. Yesterday after driving the car for about 20 miles in regular traffic i approached a junction and the car just cut out, its the first time this has happened, it otherwise runs fine, alsways starts fine and has no strange noises/smells etc. Any help please? I should add (although it might not be related) but when the car pulls up at junctions or stops in general theres a like a slight judder/stutter, i always thought this was the auto box chaning down gears from say 4th to 1st quickly... thats how it feels to me, but when it does this the revs do seem to drop a little, almost like the car wants to cut out, but it never actually did, until yesterday. Any help or advice please?

The box will not change from 4 to 1, it chages as the speed slows, it sounds as though you have the age old favourite, air leak causing a very weak mixture, but could be a few other things, like the maf needing cleaning.
At the rear of the cylinder head area corner nearest the coilpack, there is a pipe that runs from the pcv valve at the front of the engine towards the inlet manifold, along this pipe there is a "T" piece, these are always splitting, and cause what you have, as do sticking pcv valves(a valve that shuts off under a certain prerssure) in the front of the engine block, neither are expensive, I would look at these two first, and clean the maf with carb cleaner, then reset the KAM, by pulling the 2 amp violet fuse in the fusebox near battery, just pull out for 1 minute then put back in, this is the Keep Alive Memory(KAM), that stores the slight tweaks the cars ecu does for best running, it puts it into relearning mode.
