Default mk4 cortina 2ltr GL! NOW with PICS

I have been given a mk2 Granada that's been in a garage in my mates compound for 10years but.... I have no key obviously it has no tax or mot so will go on my uncles recovery truck but I do not want to damage it getting into it and didn't want to break steering lock! so any idea welcome..

Are these the same as Cortina's in the sense you can open a Cortina with a house key! is there a way around breaking the steering lock? I was thinking remove steering wheel wedge a small nail in the alloy block that locks the steering wheel but that's if it isn't already locked!

update car is a mk4 cortina

Pre facelift and you can tap the sheer bolts around the column lock like any old Ford. If its a facelift model then its the same as Late Cossie - can't remove wheel when lock is engaged etc and is a PITA!

What spec and engine size just for curiosity? Are you going to run it?

Update; It is not a Granada collected keys to garage today as car is getting dragged out and taken back to mine tomorrow but I just couldn't wait nor resist so went to take a peek and it turns out that mk2 Granada my mate said is actually a mk4 Cortina 2lt GL 1978

Been in the garage for over 10 years

Pics or it didnt happen,

forum rules mate

cut the face of the lock off with hacksaw and remove the inner tumblers, then you can turn with screwdriver at the base

Sean.

The front brake disks in the pic are brembo and actually brand new were in boxes but they were rotten just surface rust on them lol the car is solid underneath is in very good condition, the worst area is drivers wing which needs replacing whole car is in primer minus 1 door rear arches have rust holes but are solid needs door seals as the are perished and I daren't start it as the hoses need replacing as they are perished to car has been garaged since 1995

I'm going to sell it, after a look over here is a rough list of what it needs:

window rubbers
pass front door catch
water hoses
brake reservoir rubbers
ignition barrel
driver wing
rear arch's (but they are not bad)
paint
and some engine parts, alternator, battery and bulbs

I ended up selling this to someone I know as it is above for a very good price as soon as logbook arrived which took 6months due to a back log DVLA sent me 2x letters to 1st tell me they'ed received my request for a logbook and the 2nd was to tell me all was processed but due to high volume of logbook applications they were running behind and it could take another few months lol.
