Default anone own or have owned a quad bike?

Basically I'm looking for a bit of a summer toy and quite fancy a quad. I've ridden loads of them and have enjoyed them but have never owned one. My dad had a raptor 660cc which I loved but was just that bit to big for me.

Was thinking of something like a suzuke ltz400 or an ltr450. What are quads like to run, maintain, insure etc? I know you have to be careful of the plg ones rather than a fully road legal one too.

Any help would be useful

Thanks

Hi,
If you ever need a quotation for insurance on a quad then please feel free to drop me a line. Our Bikesure department has a number of specialist dedicated schemes for them.
Regards,
Dan.

I had a banshee quad, it was road legal and tuned quite a bit.

Make no mistake, they bite. I was sliding mine on dirt chasing a motocross bike and after a very long drift it flipped and spiraled over my head....it nearly landed on my back but just missed me, it clipped my legs and bent me the wrong way popping some ribs out and they still cause me issues 10 yrs on... I am under no illusion that it could have put me in a wheelchair that day.

Take care on it

I've had a banshee, blaster and a Kodiak 450 (yes i like yam's) lol.

All been reliable as hell, especially the blaster.

Mate of mine had a ltz450 and that was a really nice quad. Pulled well too.
