Suzuki rg500 Gamma...
Allright guys,
Can someone please school me on the famous rg500 gamma? Has anyone ever had the pleasure of owning one?
I've been offered a non original example for an acceptable price which has uprated 17" magnisium wheels, bigger brakes, upside down fork ect, etc.
Problems with gearboxs?, engine?
Any info. much appriciated!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
There fast , sound the tits and worth a fair bit of cash .
I was considering a 400 as there half the price of a 500 ,
There a bloke that remade the lucky strike bodywork of the rgv500 for £400 ,
Pop the engine to stan Stevens get it tuned with proper pipes and he says you can see 140 hp , yum , lol , mental bike

im sure mark dent had about 140hp out of his own bike. there is no comparison between the rg500 and the (so called) v4 rd 500.. the gamma is the king of race reps and has many parts interchangeabilty with the square4 race bike counterparts unlike the yam which was a marketing exercise. the fact that the fast road based gamma's are commonly above 130hp compared to the yam's 100hp when tuned is telling. also lighter, sound the tits and imo better looking. the gearbox's are weak tho but nova transmissions do a dry clutch setup aswell as a std but uprated gearbox for a rather hefty sum. there not cheap but they are awesome and potentially very fast, even today. in std they aren't slow but not a patch on a current 600. back in the day they'd be a fair match to the gsxr750, how times have changed
