going for my bike license..
Hi Guys,
Decided to go ahead with my bike license while I'm over here, i did my leaner course in Australia which is the equivalent to the CBT but have to do the CBT here so the plan is book my CBT and then buy a yamaha yzf r125 and then once i get ore experience go for the theory and full license.. then buy a R6.
Im 6ft2 and tried the YZFR125 today and tbh it wasn't uncomftable, it felt quiet nice being a full size frame etc and I'm assuming if i get enough experience on the 125 then jumping over to the R6 wouldn't be too different other than performance wise.

You don't really need to do the 125 thing tbh, I had an aprillia rs125 for a year before I did my big bike test and I wish I had just done direct access and got a 600 straight away.
My rs125 was a quick 125 and it was annoyingly slow after a short while.

I did my CBT on the 500 they had at the school and my Fireblade was my 1st bike, then I got an R1 then another R1, K5 GSXR 1000, ZX10R and now Ive still got an R1 and Hayabusa. It only goes as fast as you make it, whatever it is you're riding. As long as you've got a good head on your shoulders then get whatever you want.

Theres insurance i can get a year ncb on the 125 and then the next year should drop drastically for the R6?

did mine, went straight to a big bike (ducati 748) without the 125, ride it like a grandad and its fine. no need to rip the throttle back if you dont want to. Just as nice riding it at the speed limit. the money you will lose on selling the 125 theres no point. R6's can be picked up cheap.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Just do the full test before you get bad habits , then once you pass hire a bike for a track day and then you start to learn how to ride, it's the best way , a lot of my friends done that and it's the best thing they done as now they can ride a bike and not just be a passenger

passed my test and had a honda slr650, top speed 80 and moved about on the motorways, felt like a 125 but a bit more secure, got on the blackbird and never looked back as the weight and power does actually give you a more secure feeling, ask to test ride a 500cc round the car park when you book the CBT and feel the difference
get yourself some protectors/bungs on the bike and if you drop it there will be minimal damage

I did my CBT back in November then did my theory asap which was just before xmas, then i saved up the cash for mod 1 and did that at the end of january.
Saved again and did my mod 2 on the 17th of feburaury and I have a GSXR 600 k7 model for my first bike.
its a really nice bike only goes as quick as you make it and up until this week all was going well until some silly bint pulled out on me whilst i was doing 20mph which isnt too bad as I'm not hurt and the bikes not too bad really

if the system is the same do the tests etc on a 500/600 sit up bike
when we all had 125's they were far more fun that big bikes in a crowd
i rode dozens of 125's over teh years had a few bigger bikes then an rgv250 then did my test and got 2 fireblades
i dug my 92 rrn out yesterday to get it back on the rd and the downpipes crumbled
i know lots of peopel who did test etc and got a newish fast bike and laid it down the rd within weeks and never touched em again
i beleve its not that safe to ride bikes in oz, i know the people who own qbr in brisbane, they told me not to get a bike while i was there because its a statistically going to end in a squash within a year !! lol they do see the wrecks more than the rides i guess tho
i'd happily run a fireblade thru the middle at the red end of the clock but its you who has to ride it and be safe, here every junction has someone trying to pull out on you, danger ous games these days

Tbh mate oz is prob alot
Safer than here due to the fact that the roads are more open and we have a set system at junctions where you turn right on the green arrow etc

Didnt really on road bikes, just jumped on the Duke and learnt after my Test. you get enough riding to gain confidence on the access course. Did use to have a motorcross bike but its completely different riding style.
If your worried about the power why not have it restricted? then you can have it throughout your riding years.
