Default Greenlight Insurance - why did I bother...

wasting my time...

Insurance due on the Saff 3rd of July. Renewal came from my current insurer, price was ok'ish but the agreed value is a joke. Tony from Greenlight made it known they are back in the market to cover high value/bhp cars, so I contacted them, they found my details from when I used them before the recession, told me to send a detailed specification breakdown along with the obligatory photo's which I duly did - on the 21st of June. I waited, waited, waited - nothing. I called them last week to see if there was any news, to be told we're working on it, don't worry. I said 'the policy is due for renewal next Wednesday you are aware of this aren't you'? To which I was told 'don't worry, we'll be back to you before then'. Well, I contacted my current insurers and told them not to renew just yet as I was 'having a phone around', so here I am. No cover from them, and nothing from Greenlight, THANKS FOR F*CK ALL!!

Luckily my current insurers ignored me and took my money so I guess I must be insured.

What are you playing at Greenlight? Do you not want the business? Have the courtesy to say so.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Some knob on the phone told me they'd refuse to sell me insurance if I did anymore quotes, I'd done 2 online at different times because my car going on the road had been put back! So I told him where to go and went elsewhere.

Give em a try earlier.

After having Qn contact with tony on here I was quite sure I'd get a decent deal butcher goon on the other of the phone was hard work at best and they would agree the value at over £12k

Wonder if tony himself or someone who seems keen to get trade would be a better option next year

if it's only a few quids difference, i have tended to stick with the same insurer

if it's a 40% difference, i jump ship and odn't mind spending 20 minutes on the phone

Ade I just posted off the RSOC valuation to Flux it said 35k & they came straight back with a 30k valuation. Its what the rsoc valuation scheme is for. Must admit i wont change from Flux although ive been offered a saving of £300 it simply is not worth breaking the relationship.

Sold my FRS 5 weeks ago and still waiting for my refund as they wouldn't insure a bog standard focus.

For sure Rod, I was hoping mine would've been running ready for either Coombe or National Day to get Marc to value it, will have to wait till next year. I don't think it will be doing much mileage before then tbh lol

I use Greenlight and they are brilliant. They usually ring me back within 48 hours if they need to check details - got the XR insured through them and they saved me close to £900 a year just insuring the XR.

Getting another car in the autumn and they have offered a cracking price on another policy so will be sticking with them.

Glad you're pleased with them, I'm disappointed with the service I've received, especially as I used to be a loyal customer until they stopped agreed value in 2009

I have used green light for what must be 10 years now and have had nothing but excellent service and always the cheapest.

I know the rules and what they do and do not insure but always check if I'm changing my car to something that scrapes the barrel like a low spec car.

Shame you've had bad service.

I used them years back then 3 months after taking cover I get a cheque back for most off my policy ! So called them, turned out they claimed they never received my NCB proof, which I sent recorded delivery and it was signed for but they denied it all! Any way turns out they cancelled my insurance after a month and never told me so I was driving about for 2 months in insured! Complete jokers

I used to be with greenlight for a couple of years, however now they don't like my post code in north london anymore. Having owned my car now for over 15 years and finding it a harder and harder process to insure it. I've given up and taking the car off the road shortly for a few years!
Can't see why the postcode should effect me when I've never had points, No claims. No convictions. Limited 2k miles and always garaged. Same address since 2004. Why wouldn't an insurance company want my custom?!

Think this is the outfit that told me that a YB Cosworth cant have more than 650bhp . You need a Corsa with 19's Ade there idea of a modified car.

to be fair we do big power small hatches and big power old skool fords its all the same to us . we can cover any bhp . we have a 1500 bhp chevvy pick up insured with us so 650 is easily do able, ive noticed you have said this a few times . the only time we struggle is if the value is over 25k . just wanted to make it clear power is no problem , ive personally seen your car at bruntingthorpe was very impressive seemed an absolute animal very impressive .
it was a few years ago so probably even quicker now

I had to cancel my insurance with Greenlight halfway through as I sold my RS Focus. I only cancelled as I was told they don't insure standard cars which is fair enough. I would have actually stayed with them if they would have still covered my vehicle. Shame as its lost them business. How many other people have been in the same boat? Plenty I would think but they'll never tell you that!

IT TOOK 50 DAYS to get my refund back..... 50 DAYS! That is absolutely shocking. I've never ever had to wait anywhere near that for refunds before.

When I did chase it up I was told they would contact me in a weeks times after they have sent an email to there account as he only works Wednesdays. Not surprised he only works Wednesdays! Probably rolling around in all our money making interest on it sitting in there account.
