How old does your car have to be for classic insurance.
I have a few questions about classic car insurance. Thinking of getting an early XR2 or XR3 so prob around year 1982/83, does this qualify for classic insurance? I run a nissan navara as my daily and this is on van insurance with full no claims. If i take out classic insurance is my no claims taken in to account ? Can someone give me an approx figure to expect for fully comp , limited miles to about 1500 or less and i am well into my fortys

As with all things to do with insurance it's at the discretion of the individual company.
My S1 RST born in 1985 and was on classic insurance - My RS2000 4x4 born in 1996 is on classic insurance. Best bit of the classic insurance is the agreed value aspect. I have a limit of 3000 miles per year and pay about £250. No such thing as no claims on classic policies.
Hope that helps,
Cheers, John

Hi V6 Ste,
Both the early XR2 and XR3 would qualify for most classic car policies and with you having another vehicle, which allows you to limit the mileage for the XR2/XR3 this would work well.
Some classic policies are based upon mileage and do not require any NCB, others will mirror their equivalent NCB percentage for the years NCB you've earned upon your other/first vehicle.
If your postcode area's ok it's likely to be around £150 for a standard car, or a bit more if modified.
We can help with a quotation if you would like us to and if you get 5 mins spare we can provide an accurate figure for you.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi guys First post on here
Great site Fords I love always did been driving over 40 years now but really under somebody else's policy but in the process of trying to aquire an 73 or 74 Mk1 Escort as I had one away back in the late 70's but the thing is if I get my dream to come true will I be able to get classic insurance for her for myself. I presently drive under the wife's policy and her company said if I quote with them I can claim the years with them.
Thanks in advance
