Nurburgring Insurance
Hi guys.
Planning on going next month. My current insurance covers me for 60 days in Europe, happy days but obviously not the ring.
How do I go about this? Obviously I could tell my insurance company but wonder if I'll have to have to dig deep into my pocket, or do I ring another insursnce company who might specialise in Ring insurance.
Basically what is the best thing to do?
Thanks in advance.

Whether your insurance company like it or not and irrespective of what they put on their policy about excluding the Nurburgring as it is classed as a "toll road" and not a racing circuit they are obliged to provide the bare minimum of 3rd party cover.
Insurers don't like an arguement and don't expect them to roll over quickly.
iirc somebody said you could buy insured laps there???

15K+ Super Poster!!
Insurance company will have to pay out third party - but they can take you to court and get it back - this has happened in the past.
Chip did a load of research into this and managed to get cover, so have a search.

One of the company's that rents out cars at the ring provides ring insurance, it costs €35 to have your car checked over then €99 for up to 8 laps of insurance which covers you for everything apart from your car.
A crash at the ring is very very expensive.

Surely that is for 1st party cover only (your own car)
No-one is going to offer 3rd party cover for the Nordschleife

Simple solution is ..... don't crash.
Treat it like any other country lane you may drive down, don't drive beyond the limit of yourself or the car your driving, be cautious, don't take risks, keep an eye in your mirrors, and you will be fine.
the majority of the crashes you see on youtube, are down to too much speed into a corner, just take it easy and enjoy it. The place is awesome.

Or just do private track days such as destination nurburgring.
No 3rd party insurance worries and 1st party insurance easily available

I looked into this before I went last year. The short answer is you won't get insurance for a Touristfahren day. Very scary how costs add up, a small bump can end up costing hundreds of thousands of euros. Lots of info on Pistonheads:
