Thumbs down MK4 XR3i Insurance policies

Evening all,

What are you all paying for your xr3i's? Im struggling to get a quote for my escort. It's based on my age (i'm only 20) but can't see how insurance providers can justify the quotes they are giving me. Especially as this car will not be my main driver and be used infrequently just for a cruise or going to shows.

You already have a thread on this - be best to keep it all in one place than starting new threads on the same topic

Default insurance

Are you getting quotes from specialist insurance companies?? Try looking in the classified section in the back of a magazine such as "Classic Ford" for them.I have found Adrian Flux and Sureterm Direct to be amongst the best. Also make sure your annual mileage is as low as possible(mine is 5000 p.a) and try adding an older more experienced driver as a named driver.
I currently insure a 1990 xr3i convertible for £337 a year Fully Comp.
Even though i'm fast approaching 40 which goes in my favour, i have no no-claims bonus, 3 claims in last 5 years and 3 points on my licence.

Hope the advice helps and good luck!!

I have an 87 mk4 xr3i cab, fully comp, with my missus as main driver (23), me as a learner (27) with no no-claims, for £1059, with kwik fit. I typed in classic insurance and went through Money Supermarket. Hope this helps.
Tony.
