Default f'king insurance

i own a st24 which is insured, i also own a berlingo which i bought specifically for work, ive insured that claiming 9 years ncd, the berlingo insurers want proof of ncd, so i emailed them a letter which i had for the st showing the no claims, they've replied saying thats no good as they need proof that the insurance was cancelled! I've replied saying its not cancelled as its my other car, any idea's what will happen next? i'm guessing they gona come back saying i need to pay more to keep my insurance with them!

I think you can only use your NCB on one policy mate.

I'm no expert but fairly certain that's the case.

Seems wrong imo though. Multi car policy may be best.

Unfortunately an old lady walked out in front of my car in a high street. Luckily I was only doing walking speed but turned out I wasn't insured as my payment wasn't made as they put the wrong account details in.
Copper didn't fill in the producer correctly and as no injuries or damage my solicitor said not to mention what happened.

I was soon to deploy to northern Ireland and needed my licence and my troop commander gave my charator statement and got a 7 day ban and £60 fine with no points.

Very lucky! Felt horrible for the old girl like but she was ok.

Adrian flux seem to be getting expensive I used to have 3 vehicles insured with them I'm now down to one which will go elsewhere unless they give a good price. I made a change to my insurance on my van the other day to swap names of drivers and it cost £127 rip off.

I do think its wrong that they wont mirror NCD on other cars. When you think about NCD, its a discount for the drivers good driving record of no claims. So it should be administered per person not per vehicle.

certainly if you follow their rules you should declare an accident on one policy to the insurers for another car so you can be ripped off on two policies so it should be a fair system and linked to person not car in the first place.

thing is i use one of those comparison web site and got asked:

Q How much 'No Claims Bonus' do you have?
A 9+

i didnt see anything saying "is this NCD from another car that you own and insure"

another small print note i bet.

in response to the person that mentioned multi-car insurance, when the ST was due for renewal 2 month ago i asked and the cheapest i got (for the ST only not incl. the berlingo) was double my previous and current premium.

to updated, i went to confused.com for my insurance and went with M&S with a quote of £340, this quote was based on my 9 years ncd that i thought i could use, there was no question asking about any other insured vehicles, when i went through it again with zero ncd i was getting £600+ quotes.

this morning i went to compare the market, sergei asked if i was named on any other policy and if i had any ncd on the other policy, i says yes - 9 years and the cheapest quote was just over £400

i dare say M&S will want more than £60, wish i hadn't paid in full now!

yeah, afraid you can only use your NCB with one policy, when i had my daily driver & my cossie i had to transfer all my NCB from the daily to the cossie.

lets be honest, its shit!

Hi Guys,

If it helps, we can mirror your NCB percentage onto additional vehicles.

In this instance, you could use your NCB upon your everyday vehicle and (providing you've been claim free for the length of the years that we're matching) we would mirror the NCB percentage onto other vehicles for you.

We also give big discounts if you can limit the mileage and don't require regular commuting use.

We've been working away quietly upon our schemes and have sharpened our rating, so if you're stuck, or just want to see what we can do we'd welcome the opportunity to help.

Kind regards

Tony

Thanks LHD220Turbo,

We're open between 9am - 6pm monday to friday and 9am - 1pm on Saturdays.

If you get 10 mins to call (01277 376000) we'll be able to organise a mirrored NCB quotation for you whilst your on the phone.

We can also talk through the various discounts that we've got available for rewarding limited mileage, or pleasure use/only occasional commuting.

Look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards

Tony
