Default No claims bonus...

Up until June last year i had 5 years NCB, then i was banned for a year. Question is, when i insure a car in June again this year after my bans up, will i still have 5 years no claims bonus?

NCB is valid for 2 years before it becomes void.

Yes, as Paul said. Although I guess the ban will count against you when you come to renew.

Did you cancel the policy?

You have 2 years lying before you loose it. Also you have to declare your ban up to 5 years after it's spent.

I got banned for 7 days and the insurance companies can only put in minimum of 28 days.

Going off quotes ive had its not overly bad if i can keep my 5 years no claims. Im 24. For a focus rs im looking about £650 and for an rs turbo again im looking at £450. Without the no claims however the focus is £1900 and the escort £1700 Fuck that. I paid £1700 for insurance for an rs turbo when i was 18 and daft, im no doin that again

saphcosmike, my policy was about to end so i let it run. When they phoned me to renew i told them i was banned. My insurance was with elephant but now when i try and get a quote with them they wont allow a driver with my convictions. It wouldnt be a problem getting proof of the no claims with them for another insurance company will it?

Hi read your post and wondered if you managed to use your no claims bonus as i've been banned for 1 and a half yr and due my licence back the start of august and had 4 yrs no claims protected before hand, i've put my ban and points into a comparison sight with my 4yrs no claims protected and the price isn't as bad as it would be putting none no claims, just got that feeling they going to say they are void because of the ban, help anyone pls

Chris...

I bought mine about 4 wks ago, whatever it is i'll have to pay it like as i need it to get back into my line of work, got to pass a medical first in 2 wks which i know i'll fly through, on the comparison sight's if the no claims don't apply any longer i'm sure it should come up error when you put your disqualification and no claims bonuses, with its going to be £460 which is what i was paying 8 yr ago, and without its round the £1000 mark, never heard of anyone getting it that cheap after a ban, just hope i'm wrong for both out sakes,

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, with most Insurers your NCB is valid for 2 years since the date your last policy expired.

If your expiry (cancellation/renewal) date of your last policy is within 2 years of when the cover is required it's likely that most companies will accept it.

Presumably the comparison site will either ask you when your last policy expired, or make an assumption in this regard. Which should be listed upon their site somewhere or your application.

Failing this, click through to check the respective Insurer/broker's deal, then call them to clarify.

Kind regards

Tony
